ZFS auto-snapshot in zone
Hello,
I''ve got auto-snapshots enabled in global zone for home directories of all users. Users log in to their individual zones and home directory loads from global zone. All works fine, except that new auto-snapshot have no properties and therefore can''t be accessed in zones.
example from zone:
[~/.zfs/snapshot]:$ ls -Alh
ls: cannot access

was code added to detect or die on sighup recently?
I have a script that normally runs my snapshot that I haven't
used for the past several days because something seemed
to be going wrong and I wanted to run things manually.
But running the script twice today, I got:
> snaphome
Found 15 mounted dated, snaps or snap archives
?[snapper#2120]base_mp=/home
1 snap dated today.
(Use: '--force=force_create_snap' to force another snap.)

Snap server in Samba PDC domain
I've trawled the Archives for assistance with this problem, but all the
threads I've found petter out without a solution being posted.
We have a Samba 2.2.1a server as a PDC for our network of NT4 and 98
machines. They all get along fine. We have roaming profiles established so
people can move around. All no problem. We have a Quantum Snap 2000 server
that has all our working

[patch] configurable ssh_prng_cmds
The following patch against openssh-SNAP-20000823 allows to override the
compile-time "ssh_prng_cmds" file at run time by adding new options to the
server and client configurations. (We move binaries around a bit, and this was
the only absolute path that couldn't be fixed at run-time).

snapshot scripts run on linux to allow samba to export Windows "Previous copies" when looking at a network file?
Does anyone have scripts they use for doing this automatically that they
use?
I'd like to compare it to mine and see what features I might have left out
that I might want...
Currently nightly, the script determines the changes during the day (snaps
take about 60-150 minutes to create, so once a day is all I do right now).
It uses a simple config-file to drive what directories to ignore and

LVM (1.0.2 ), ext3 and 'hot' snapshotting
Hello, all.
I work with lvm ( kernel 2.4.17 + ext3-2.4-0.9.17-2418p3 patch ) but i can't
snapshot a ext3 fs directly
# lvcreate --snap --name snap --size +1G /dev/vgtest/lvtest
# mount -o ro -t ext3 /dev/vgtest/lvtest /snap /mnt/snap
ext3 can't work , ext2 work
If I mount readonly the etx3 filesystem, snapshot-it, and remount rw the
filesystem ( and ro the snapshot ) it work

Snap to grid for Draggables
Heya,
Following an idea from Saimon (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/
2826) and
Borlum (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/2583) and possibly others,
script.aculo.us Draggables now sport a new "snap" option that works
like this:
snap:25
snap to a 25x25 grid (0,0 is at the elements 0,0 coordinate)
snap:[10,25]
same as above but with different x/y grid size
snap:function(x,y) {

domain still running although snapshot-file is deleted !?!
Hi,
i have a strange situation:
A domain is still running where domblklist points to a snapshot file and also dumpxml says the current drive is that snapshot file.
But the file has been deleted hours ago. And the domain is still running. I can login via ssh, the database and the webserver are still running,
domain is performant.
How can that be ?
Also lsof shows that the file is deleted:

rsync and HP11.11 problem
Hi All,
I am trying to run rsync from HP11.00 machine (source) to HP11.11
machine, as test for migration plan. The data on the source is not
changing since it is snapshot of active data.
Every time we try to run the following command:
timex rsync -avuz --delete isynh09:/snap
We get the following error:

Snap Server fails to join Samba PDC Domain
I have a Snap Server which runs some imbedded version of Samba (I'm
thinking 3.X). I'm try to migrate from an NT PDC to a Samba 3.0.9 PDC
(running on FreeBSD 4.10).
The migration is mostly successful -- all the profiles have been moved,
client authentication works great, password changes work fine, etc.
My major problem is that the Snap Server fails to find the Samba PDC.
However, if I

Samba on Snap
Hi,
We have a snap server 4400 which is running Samba and which we have
successfully added to our Samba domain which is running on a Sun. However,
when we save a file on the Snap server, the unix owner/group are set
incorrectly to the values 20111 and 20002. A file saved on the Sun server
has the correct unix owner/group.
Consequently, the file save on the snap server cannot be edited at the

Two patches for Snap
Hi,
There are a couple of problems with Snapping Windows that I tried to fix:
(1) The snap to windows checkbox in ccsm has no effect because Snap treats
any window with struts as an edge, and all windows have struts. I think it
should be a test for dock windows.
(2) Windows don't snap to the left edge because it has been erased. The
right edge doesn't seem to get erased because it is

snapshot mount fails in 3.12
Hi,
quick question about snapshot mounting: Were there changes in 3.12 that
were not mentioned in the release notes for snapshot mounting?
I recently upgraded from 3.10 to 3.12 on CentOS (using
centos-release-gluster312). The upgrade worked flawless. The volume
works fine too. But mounting a snapshot fails with those two error messages:

2.2-970422-RELENG on ftp.freebsd.org (and about SNAP CDs..)
As many of you probably already know, a "SNAP" release is built once
per day on the RELENG_2_2 branch (where 2.2.1 came from and from where
future 2.2.x releases will be derived) and put up for anonymous FTP
at:
ftp://releng22.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD
Since this site isn't always the easiest to get to or mirror, I will
also periodically copy "known good" release snapshots

What''s eating my disk space? Missing snapshots?
Please can someone take a look at the attached file which shows the output on my machine of
zfs list -r -t filesystem,snapshot -o space rpool/export/home/matt
The USEDDS figure of ~2GB is what I would expect, and is the same figure reported by the Disk Usage Analyzer. Where is the remaining 13.8GB USEDSNAP figure coming from? If I total up the list of zfs-auto snapshots it adds up to about 4.8GB,
