newbie kernel question
Im sorry if this is a newb question, but how do you recompile the
kernel in CentOS 4.3? I need to add reiserfs support (even though the
setup detected it) the kernel it gave me didnt have support for
reiserfs, and my entire fileserver is all reiserfs. I tried the
gentoo way, which im use to and it bombed. What do i need to do? does
it install kernel source by default? I couldnt find any good

apache permission problems
Well i finally got CentOS 4.3 booting, apache is installed, and im
trying to setup some virutal hosts, i want the main site to be my
default virtual host (which i had on my gentoo server) but i keep
getting permission denied errors:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to

source rpms
how can i get the source rpms for the packages installed on my centos
3.6 server? is there a certain repositories i have to add to my
yum.conf? Im trying to setup a filtering program "smartfilter" and
they want me to point to the source for squid, which i cant seem to
find. can anyone shed some light on this for me? someone i was
talking to said that centos strips out the source to

Problems with 4.3 install - didnt write boot record
the first time i tried to install centos on my fileserver it detected
my reiserfs drives but then didnt give me a kernel to actually access
them - strike one
now im trying centos on my mail server, wipe the drives, created a
mirrored raid array from the setup, (took over 14 hours to format and
sync) finally finished the install AND IT DIDNT WRITE THE BOOT RECORD!
when it rebooted i got my grub

installing yum on RHEL 7.2
im very new to RH, and even more so to YUM, but i need to install it
on a RHEL 7.2 server, which i have done but installing the RPM
package, and updated it via the Centos2 archives. The program i am
trying to install is bacula, a backup/tape program on one of our old
servers, we need to upgrade to a newer version. I didnt want to deal
with the deps, so i thought yum was the way to go. well, it

yum error
Im new to yum, so i really dont know how to fix this problem, i just
added the dag repos, havent installed anything yet, just wanted to see
