debconf templating
Hello.
Hope you can help me further.
I can vaguely remember that once I saw a reference how to preconfigure
debconf in puppet manifests. So you can define answers in debconf inside
of manifests. No idea where anymore. Anybody knows?

KDE login screen configuration problems
...OS 6.3 system, there was no such file, no
/etc/sysconfig/desktop. I've not been able to find any method to enable
KDE login in 6.3. The method mentioned in the earlier reply was for
CentOS 5, not 6.
Any further suggestions?

Question: How to utilize multi-core CPUs
...but CentOS is telling me there are four. This is the first
multi-core Linux installation I've had. What is the best way to utilize
the multi-core CPUs? I'd like to distribute the load but I'm unsure how
to do that.

CentOS 6.3 - KDE login screen configuration problems
Hello,
We generally use CentOS for some servers, and so do not use a GUI
interface. However, I have recently installed CentOS 6.3 onto a PC with
KDE. I am familiar with KDE as I use it with Fedora for my work PC.
The problem is that we would like to configure the login screen, so that
it does not show the user list, that it does not allow the shutdown or
reboot commands (from the login screen),

[LLVMdev] Why does "uwtable" prevent optimizing Invoke -> Call?
Hi,
in r176827 the optimization that turns invokes with empty landing pads
into plain calls was disabled for invocations of function with the
"uwtable" attribute.
But given this code:
struct S { ~S() {}; };
void blackbox();
__attribute__((__noinline__)) void inner() { blackbox(); }
int foo() {
S s;
inner();
return 0;
}
int bar() {

Symlink file syncing issue
Hi!
I've been attempting to use rsync to sync a set of files between my
laptop and my desktop. I've tried using google to search the archives,
but didn't find anything that addressed this issue exactly... First of
all, here are the details of how I have things set up.
Server acting as the intermediary:
OS: Mac OS X Server 10.3
rsync: 2.6.2
Laptop:
OS: Mac OS X 10.3.6
rsync: 2.6.2

Performing actions in parallel
Hello,
I have been running multiple exec scripts that could run in parallel. Does puppet run as much as possible in parallel? If it does not, is there a way to specify that actions may be run in parallel?
Also, is puppet a multiple or single thread application?
Thank you,

Can I directly upgrade (update?) from my current 6.5 box to version 7?
Or, must I wipe my drives and install from scratch?

[LLVMdev] access IntegerType::getSignBit from Type *
Hi,
I have a Type * which may come from an IntegerType as shown below:
Type.getIntegerBitWidth() tells me numBits.
But how to extract the IntegerType.getSignBit?
If pType isIntegerType, I need to know if it is signed or unsigned...
How to achieve this?
Thx
Alex

Dovecot & pam issues
...i/dovecot/private/dovecot.pem
userdb {
driver = passwd
}
protocol pop3 {
pop3_client_workarounds = outlook-no-nuls
pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv

Any suggestion how I get dovecot and pam working? Or, is the problem
elsewhere?

London meetup?
Following Luke''s very successful Puppet talk at GLLUG in London, which
was so over-subscribed there were people queueing outside and pressing
their little faces up against the glass, I wonder if the market will
bear a London Puppet meet?
If there are more than two or three people interested it might be worth
arranging something, perhaps a pub session where we can talk about what

"Parsed Providers must define a default target" error
I''ve just noticed that Puppet is failing to automatically apply changes
when running as a Red Hat service.
Changes get applied with no problems or errors when I run Puppet
manually with "puppetd --test" but fail with a "Could not apply complete
configuration: Parsed Providers must define a default target" error in

upgrading puppet?
How are people upgrading puppet itself on their hosts that run puppetd?
Can puppet be used to upgrade to a new puppet package via gem, rpm or
some other package provider? How do you handle restarting?
Just hoping theres a better way than "ssh and a for loop" or having to
have another configuration management system installed.

Kerberos for authentication?
Greetings!
Are there any plans of using Kerberos for authentication in addition to (or
in place of) SSL certificates in Puppet?
Kerberos provides mutual, cryptographically strong authentication. A number
of different services are Kerberos-enabled (SSH, NFSv4 and HTTP are common
examples), and thus use the same authentication mechanism system-wide. At our
site, almost all services and users are

How would you use some of these new features? Lets pretend that your

displeased by your actions, smites one of your processes using the all
powerful oom-killer. How do you recover?

Xen, NFS performance, rsize, wsize and MTU
We have a Xen 3.0 / Linux kernel 2.6.15 machine with the domU''s
configured for shared /home directories. One of the domU''s is an NFS
server, exporting /home, and the other domU''s all mount this.
It all functions fine, but it''s pretty slow.
I tried untarring a recent Linux kernel tarball. On the NFS server
domU this takes about 25 seconds. I didn''t
