must use dns-name for shares
Hi, We recently upgraded from 3.0.2a to 3.0.7 and are having problems with using shares. Our Win2K-clients must use the dns-name of the samba-server to use the shares eg. \\smbserv.domain.com\share instead of \\smbserv\share Otherwise the user is asked for username and password, but is refused access, regardless of whether the password is right or wrong. However, if a wrong password is given several times, the user is locked out from the AD. (PDC is a Win2K-server.) The N...

sambaProfilePath and sambaHomePath when adding a BDC
I have a Samba3+LDAP PDC running. I set it up long time ago following de IDEALX howto and using smbldap-tools. The domain is called PRINCIPAL and the PDC netbios name is SMBSERV. In my LDAP tree, users have (among others) attributes like these: dn: uid=bachillerato01,ou=Users,dc=guaydil,dc=prv cn: Usuario prueba para bachillerato ... sambaProfilePath: \\SMBSERV\profiles\bachillerato01 sambaHomePath: \\SMBSERV\bachillerato01 Now I have a new network segment and I want t...

NTLM, NTLMv2, lmcompatibilitylevel >=2 doesnt work
...socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 local master = No dns proxy = No lanman auth = Yes ntlm auth = Yes (and the shares etc) (oh and lanman auth = No didnt solve anything IIRC) The client machine is W2K+SP2. When I do a "net use k: \\smbserv\temp" Ethereal/tcpdump shows a SMBnegprot request, reply, SMBsessionsetupX request, reply and then the w2k client closes the tcp connection. The eventlog show something like (translated from dutch): "The redirector cannot initialize the properties of the securitycontext or querycontext.&...

samba + kerberos
...o I set samba to use kerberos password backend (without ldap) use kerberos keytab = yes security = user realm = DOM.COM encrypt passwords = yes unix password sync = no And generally it works ... when (on the linux client) I put kinit and type the password and then smbclient -k //smbserv/files I am logged in and I can see the files But I would like to mount it automatically (for ex. in /etc/fstab) so how to do it? In usual samba without kerberos I can write password and username in mount options - but it is different situation. And next question - what if I would like to use win...

SMB Signing with "map to guest = " options
Hi, I'm using samba-4.7.x I have some confusions over "map to guest=" options with setting SMB Signing 1. Set "*Server signing =auto*", "*map to guest=bad uid*" and set "client signing in windows 2k12 server group policy" to "Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (Always)” = *Disable*" SMB_Server is joined to Windows 2k12
