No domain server was available to validate your password.
Hi all,
I have a strange problem with the Samba server as PDC.
I periodically get the error message "No domain server
was available to validate your password". But, at
other times it would login fine and execute the login
scripts to handle all the map drives.
I don't have the slightest clue where the problem is.
When the problem arise, I don't even need to do
anything about it.

Win98 password problem
I have a standard Redhat 7.2 install of Samba running on a firewall.
My Win2K machine is working well using a shared drive and a Epson
printer via samba.
My Win98 box will not connect. I have checked and an account
exist for this box (via smbpasswrd) but it claims the password is
invalid.
How do I check this out? I can see no place in Win98 where I can
check the user name and the password I have supplied is rejected
Thanks.
JD
** I'm using encrypted password. I would like to stay that way if this
problem with Win98 is not related.

Win98 machine (smbclient \\\\server_name\\share_name -U user_name works OK).
I have started an stopped samba but it
