smblib/auth
I need to do an smb auth in an application I'm writing.
I've looked at the source in smblib/*.c but I'm unsure
which library and which function call I should link against.
I'm looking for something like this
$result = smb_auth($user,$pass,$pdc);
so that I can check if a user/pass combination is a valid
username/password on the windows network.
What library, and what function c...

...sk if this
is reliable software...
OR: is there any project ongoing which hash an aim to make a user
friendly library of routines to use windows shares from "C" ?
I want to point that in list of 'Related Software' in README of
main directory of samba distributions is written:
- smblib, a library of smb functions which are designed to make it
easy to smb-ise any particular application. See
ftp://samba.anu.edu.au/pub/samba/smblib.
... well... is there anybody who used this code with success ?

SMBlib: status? My mod's
Is anyone actively maintaining/working-on the SMBlib? I saw
a post that hinted that there might be, but that was three
months ago, and not a whisper since.
I just added the LanMan1 (as I recall...) locking_andx function
to SMBlib, and built a (trivial) Perl xs interface for the SMBlib.
I'm not likely to do a whole lot more unless I pick up mor...

Accessing Samba share over the Internet
Hi,
I want to connect to a share on a Samba server over the Internet. I have
the Samba server installed and working OK (for NT clients at least) but when
I connect from my NT workstation over the Internet I get 'Invalid Handle'
dialogs when I try to map a network drive. I think it should be OK but one
major difference is the remote NT workstation is not a member of the domain

Using SMB for web authentication
Hello,
I have apache web server running on unix system. Then we have lots of
users who only have accounts on our NT-domain.
I'd like to do user&group authentications from our NT-domain using
samba/SMBlib to do the actual authentication. Now does anyone know if
there are already such systems available?
What I'd like to do:
1) User connects to web page http://web/xyz.
2) He/she gets challenged and should give his username/password (NT-domain
uname/passwd).
3) Web-server does user/group validat...

I'm writing a secure RPC Server for NT, and I'd like to write a
UNIX client. How can I have the UNIX client authenticate to

IP address to WINS address?
Is it possible to use smbclient to look up the WINS address of a computer
given only its IP address (or DNS hostname)? I've been trying for two
days and looked through all the documentation, and the total amout of
information on doing anything useful with smbclient amount to exactly one
file - the man page, which I have read and is no help.
For example, I try to connect to a windows machine

/etc/passwd - Domain Controller Synchronization
Hello,
I don't know much about Samba so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
I'm currently working on a project for a client that relies on Unix machines
for their main applications. Access to Unix applications is done through
terminal emulation (vt 100) on Windows PCs.
We are implementing a Windows NT network for file an print sharing and to
support SMS. One of the goals of the
