Samba Standalone Server LDAP Issue
Hello List, i have a Samba Problem that is related to Sambas ldap behaviour. Problem: The standalone server ( no DC !!) tries to write an attribute to an write only ldap Slave is sent via WAN to the master write ldap. The problem results from the fact that samba never goes back to the "local" slave ldap to the "local" slave ldap so each samba request goes over an

Samba 3.0.24 handling LDAP responses incorrectly
Hey list, Recently I've gotten my Samba PDC to successfully use an OpenLDAP backend, while using the smbk5pwd and ppolicy overlays for OpenLDAP. However, Samba appears to incorrectly handle responses from LDAP's ppolicy overlay, even though it very clearly receives them. If I enter in a password (be it through Ctrl+Alt+Delete or when a password expires and the user is prompted at logon)

Cluster: node to node switching
Hi *, I use samba 3.2.3 actually and have problems to switch between two nodes in a cluster in an active directory environment. I know of CTDB but I want to keep it simple and so I use a shared folder for the .tdb files. But it does not work since samba 3.2 anymore. After switching from one node to another I have to delete the .tdb files and join again to the domain to have access to samba.

Error changing password
After a long battle with the having the password hash types that samba sets in LDAP being incompatibile with anything else that I wanted to do I finally have the idealx tools set to give me crypt passwords. Now however I'm running into the familiar "You don't have permission to change your password" problem, but the passwords are actually set correctly. My test machine is

3.0.7/LDAP/referrals...
AIX 5.2 OpenLDAP 2.2.15 Samba 3.0.7 (no winbindd) I've got a stupid problem with referrals that I can't seem to ferret out. Each Samba DC has a localhost-based LDAP replica for scalability (my idea anyway). So the only way they will talk to the Master is if there is need for an update. Ok. If I make the updatedn the same as the rootdn of the replica, it updates the local database;

BDC constantly rebinds to master ldap server causing browsing delay
Hello, I seem to be having an issue where one of my BDC servers constantly needs to rebind to the "master" ldap server (ldap1.ae-solutions.com). Whenever this happens I see several entries in the log like this: "smbldap_search_ext: waiting 928 milliseconds for LDAP replication." It appears to cause delay when browsing samba shares whenever this happens. The master

When i set "ldap passwd sync" to "only" and I change password on some ldap samba user, password in attribute userPassword is never changed by samba daemon (to update NT and LM password I use smbk5pwd overlay). If i set pwd sync to

Migration from 3.6.25-0ubuntu0.12.04.10 to 4.x with passdb backend = ldapsam Hi. I saw client authentication success, which interrupts in following places: In case with

Smbpasswd -x doesn't delete entry
I hope someone give me a clue to what is happening here. This is a new installation. I can add users to samba with no problems but I can't delete them from the ldap db using smbpasswd -x <username> nor via pdbedit -x -u <username> The ldap entry looks like this - # dn: uid=tester,ou=People,dc=mycompany,dc=com uid: tester sambaSID: S-1-5-21-118495222-1838158642-270368766-2026

samba bad password count reset between logins (not loaded from login_cache.tdb)
I recently migrated our samba PDC to an LDAP backend on a test machine. Testing my account policies, I found out that the password lockout did not work. When authentication fail, samba seems to call init_ldap_from_sam asking to update the bad password count. When I set the lockout threshold to 1, the account is locked after a failed attempt and the badPasswordCount attribute is updated correctly
