Samba + ldap + cannot find domain
...> >> one to the domain. We cannot work reliably without it.
This is the important message from smbd.
1. domain info not found
2. unable to set domain info
3. without domain info this ldap server ist not our auth source
Your second migration problem which pops here up, is that the "smblap
tools" could not handle "setting domain info" (which is a self join
command) and required since early samba 3.6 version.
So, to make it fly:
Add these two statements
ldapsam:trusted = yes
ldapsam:editposix = yes
to your smb.conf and restart samba. smblap tools are now disabled,...

Samba + ldap + cannot find domain
So this got me thinking that maybe a chunk of my problem is with LDAP itself on the server. Executing "slapcat" shows me what I believe to be the correct content, including what looks like appropriate content underneath the following:
dn: sambaDomainName=DRBHOME,dc=drbhome,dc=ca
That seems to answer the question about whether the domain info is actually there.

smbldap-populate problem
...eferences to this error.
I figure I can either:
1. find out how to set the configuration so that samba's uids will come
from sambaDomainName and unix' uidNumbers will come from NextFreeUnixID.
I thought I already had that, but it's not working.
2. figure out what is going wrong with smblap-populate when
sambaUnixIdPooldn indicates the sambaDomainName node so that the directory
is populated and I can redo the vampire.
I'm sure what I am doing has been done thousands of times before, so I
might be just missing some simple configuration, but I've been looking for
hours and not...

Problem with groups & joining domain.- LDAP
...ps that are in LDAP.
What I suspect is that group lookups are failing somehow, but I'm not
sure. Also If I browse through network neighborhood to the samba PDC
server, I can authenticate with an ordinary user and get the users
home dir. So Users seem to be working.
Here is my smb.conf, my smblap.conf and my ldap.conf
serf# testparm -s
Load smb config files from /usr/local/etc/smb.conf
Processing section "[homes]"
Processing section "[netlogon]"
Processing section "[Profiles]"
Processing section "[printers]"
Loaded services file OK.

Samba PDC + OpenLDAP (Debian Lenny)
Hey.
I'm trying to move my existing MS-AD over to SAMBA, the place I'm
working for is changing all servers from MS to Debian, but all the
clients is still a mixed environment for now.
We have MAC, *NIX, and Windows clients, so its imported that everything
keeps running in the same or almost the same way as before the change but.
When I try to join a Windows Vista Ultimate ore Windows
