I have the following in /etc/samba/smbfstab;
//msserver/share /mnt/smb-share cifs

Multiple homedir entries in smb.conf ?
Hi list,
is it possible to add multiple homedir templates to smb.conf ?
I have a running linuxsystem where homefilesets are mounted
from different windows-servers to subdirs like:
/home/server01/home/USERNAME
/home/server02/home/USERNAME
/home/server03/home/USERNAME
The users come via winbind. In the smb.conf the entry for the
homedir:
template homedir = /home/%U

users can't write to a subset of mounted directories
Hello
I am connecting to an NT server via a Linux client. I am mounting the drive on
the client via the following in smbfstab:
//server/Users /home/dm215/Desktop/SambaBringover smbfs
username=user,password=pass,suid,uid=1000,gid=100,fmask=770,dmask=770,rw
It works fine except the local user uid=1000 cannot write to certain
directories. The initial directory (//server/Users) is writable by 1000, but
only one of the subd...

Missing Directory Entries (SMBFS)
SuSE 9.0 Pro - Kernel 2.4.21 - Samba 2.2.8a and 3.0.1-14
Here's my problem:
On a box runninng XP, I have a shared folder which contains 130+
subdirectories. This share is mounted on my linux box from '/etc/smbfstab',
but some directories do not show up in directory listings. It's never more
than one, and which one varies, but generally seems to be in or near the
last half of the listing. As a test, I can do 'ls -l | wc -l' and the number
will frequently be 1 less than it should be. The same te...

Trouble mounting a windows share from Linux
I have Fedora Core 1 workstations configured with winbind logging onto our

how to connect to a windows home directory on a Win2000 server. Here is the
scenario:

Each user has modify permissions to their share
Administrator has full control
First off, I need to somehow

Mounting Samba shares under KDE 3.x
Hi,
I'm trying to mount the samba shares into my SuSE 9.2 workstation, with
no luck. Our server is in production, so there's nothing wrong in our
samba server. But I can't mount my shares under KDE.
Doing it with mount -t smbfs gives me a lot of Time Out errors, and the
mount is unable to show any files. Seems that the smbfs module is broken
in the 2.6.8 kernel. I don't know

were bound to confuse. It sounded plausible so I changed one of

problems with auto mounted share from Macintosh server on SuSE Linux
...OS 10.3.6. I can read from the share without problems.
However, writing to it is a different story.
All the files/folders on the share are owned by janee in the group
janee and have rw owner and group permissions. I've tried playing with
the automount settings without much success. The SuSE smbfstab file
currently contains:
//softweave-1/shared /smb smbfs
credentials=/root/.smbpw,uid=awpe,gid=janee,fmask=664,dmask=775
I created a janee group on the Linux system with the same group id as
it has on the Mac. The awpe user exists only on the Linux system. After
rereading the smb.conf docs a...
