Clients send tons of Notiftication requests
I am still fighting with this issue.
I did the following: I connected to the NAS with a read-only account called kodi. I traversed various folders and I finally opened an image.
Everything went fine.
Looking at the logs, the get_entry mask file only shows the final folder:

Problem to many connection
I'm desperate. My English is terrible, but I will try to be as clear as
possible.
I have Samba 4.4.4 in a Centos 7.
I have many connections for each ip.
The command smbstatus -b returns me infinity of these:

problem with scannedonly vfs

Solved: Windows frozen; samba spewing smbd_dirptr_get_entry
Hello,
Last December I wrote to the list asking about obnoxiously long
freezes when using Windows 7's "explorer" to browse a samba
repository. While Windows was frozen, samba's log was filling with
smbd_dirptr_get_entry messages -- one for each file in a particular
directory. Since I had some directories with 10,000 files, this was a
slow process.
Amusingly, I was not "entering" these directories with Windows.
Windows was scanning "random" directories.
Turns out, windows sometimes will show...

Samba on AIX, issues setting read-only flag on files through Windows Explorer?
Hello list :)
I am having issues setting the "read-only" flag via Windows Explorer on my AIX Samba share and I was hoping someone out there would be able to point me into the right direction to solving this issue...
I have on my AIX 7.1 system installed Samba 3.6.24 and configured, joined to our Windows domain successfully.

debian wheezy 4.1.11 ldap backend / uid/gid resolving
...every file access querys the LDAP (openldap)
backend for uid/gid names.
With samba3 on Debian/Squeeze i dont see this happening. My assumption
was that nscd would cache away those querys which it doesnt on the
samba4 wheeze installation.

In the Samba file sharing server, all data is store in a RAID Disk

Errors in parse_share_modes Testing CTDB 2.3 and Samba 4.0.7

I would like to know how I can tell if there is some problem with the
locking database in CTDB before I go any farther in testing. I upped the
log level and I can see that this happens when getting each entry of a
directory in dir.c:smbd_dirptr_get_entry() when it calls
locking.c:get_file_infos() and eventually tries to parse the locking data.
I took a look at the Samba 3.6.1 source and I see that the code that
parses the locking data has changed in 4.0.X. I haven't spent enough time
yet to understand the code to find the reason for the m...

slow directory access, convert_string_internal: Conversion error: Incomplete multibyte sequence

Intermittent permission denied when accessing share

I did the CNAME, but when I remove the netbios alias I can see the shares list when accessing \\aliasname, but then I'm not allowed into any of them. I tried rebooting the client but same result, and I also don't see anything in the logs :(
