Win files from *nix?
How can I browse Windows from Unix? I'm using FreeBSD 4.7, Samba, and KDE3. I'd like to be able to browse also from command line. I have not found instructions on use of smbclient-win32 and do not want to use sharity. smbclien-win32 comes with and exe file and cygwin dll's - but what are you supposed to do with them, copy the dll's to system or system32 foler and just run the exec? and then what? I don't care if I sound stupid, but surely somebody could sugge...

A little problem
Hello, samba I have configured samba in my net, and it works well. From computers in the same sub-net, using w95, in the "Network Area" they can see the samba server. However, from computers in other nets, I can connect with "Connect to net unit", but I can't see the server in th "Network Area". What's the problem? Sorry for my bad English angel

smbclient itself cause smbd exit
Dear all, I don't know how to start to state my problem. But I'll try my best. The problem did not exist in 2.0.X & 2.2.0. Recently I upgrade samba to 2.2.8a. Problem exist. 1. I can start nmbd -d 5 -i & smbd -d 5 -i. 2. If I run 'smbclien -L <server name>' (itself) smbclient ask for password I type enter for null password smbclient get the service list from the server. Interdomain Trust: winbind not working
...aintext password authentication succeeded challenge/response password authentication succeeded (this seems to authorise a user of the trusted domain...) I joined the samba pdc to his domain (SYS2) and made the trust with net rpc trustdom establish SYS2 everything seems working fine since i can smbclien with a user of the trusted domain, the only thing that's not working is winbind, i can't map the trusted dom users to the unix users. I noticed that samba creates a unix account everytime i log into it with a user of the trusted dom, but how i can get winbind work?? this is my smb.conf...

Upgrading from 3.0.37 to 3.5.9
I am upgrading from 3.0.37 to 3.5.9 on the same server and need some advice. I am running Solaris 10 on a domain server that services 10 XP and Win 7 clients. The existing Samba directory structure is not standard.
