re. 3.4.9 printing addprinter command reparse doesn't see new printer
Please don't hijack threads.
You could try something like /etc/init.d/samba restart (or your local
equivalent) to the end of perl script.

hello
I have cups printing with cups 1.4.4. I'm using the included
smbaddprinter.pl command to add printers to my server.
Now, my error is that when I add the printer, I get ACCESS DENIED in the
windows client, but if I check cups, there the printer is. And if I
wait a bit with the windows client or reload samba, there the printer is
within the share as well.
Now, from t...

Solaris 10, zfs and windows
This seems to work.
The Samba (3.0.37) server is running Solaris 10 8/07 with the share on
zfs and joined to a windows 2003 active directory domain. Files created
in Solaris can be edited from windows without the permission being
changed. Files created from windows have the correct Solaris
permissions, owner and group and can be edited without permissions being
changed. We use the chmod command to

SAMBA / CUPS Printserver
Okay, I've got some progress now. Have fairly decent printserver
working. I've been able to reproduce the same postive and negative
results in two physical servers and now (finaly destination) a vmware
server.
What's working:
ADS integration, this is a domain member
Printer driver installation (for a few drivers)
Printer installation / removal
Printing.
What's not working:

APW issue and excessive Get-Printer-Attributes in CUPS access_log
...e is no activity at
all. That makes sense, as this is primarily an SMB/LPD print server
with all raw queues. My smb.conf settings for printing are simply:
load printers = yes
printing = cups
printcap name = cups
cups options = raw
show add printer wizard = yes
addprinter command = /usr/local/bin/smbaddprinter.pl
deleteprinter command = /usr/local/bin/smbdelprinter.pl
Whether or not this amount of log activity is related, is this normal?
Also, has anyone else seen anything like this? Current workaround is
hourly restarts of both daemons in cron.
Thanks very much.

samba shares fail after active directory reboot
We have a samba server that uses active directory security. We have three active directory servers and use a dfs namespace (test.local) to encompass those three servers. We currently are using password server = TEST.local, but have had all three AD servers listed, but it has not helped.
Whenever ANY of those servers go down for maintenance, the samba shares do not come up and restarting the

SeBackupPrivilege
We're using Samba 3.0.21a-1 on a CentOS 4.2 server (kernel
2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp); everything works more or less fine,
it's functioning as the PDC with an OpenLDAP back end (setup
essentially straight from the Idealx.org playbook), etc.
We're trying to mount Windows shares to back them up, and
getting "permission denied" errors when trying to read
certain files from those
