Hello After updating to the 2.6.9-42 kernel, one of my boxes stall during boot with hdc lost interrupt ide-cd:cmd 0x3 timed out The older 2.6.9-35 kernel boots fine. This is a Compaq Proliant PL360. hi all, In the past I used software RAID-1 and monitored /proc/mdstat to make sure things were ok in the array. I am starting to play with /dev/mapper and was wondering how I monitor this for a disk going bad. Thanks, Jerry

I've run badblocks on the disk that contains the ext3 partition and no errors were found. Aside from badblocks, I'm not aware of any disk tools I could use to test further. smartmon tools report that all 3 of the disks are OK. The bulk of the data being sent to the machine is via the network using the application Unison, version 2.13.16 if that makes any difference. I haven't tried another suggestion to set the kernel paramter idle=poll, but since nothing else has worked...
