These are step by step instructions for how to install and configure the
Squid
proxy server with transparent authentication for users in a Microsoft AD
domain,
optionally using SmartFilter from Secure Computing to support outbound
web filtering.
This was tested in two Windows 2003 AD domains, one with SmartFilter,
the other
without SmartFilter.
These instructions use the following versions of these packages:
RedHat Linux 9.0 with various kernels from kernel.org

Why not use RPMs? Well - ADS support for Windows 2003 needs Kerberos
1.3 or newer. But RedHat 9.0 has Kerberos 1.2.7 and zillions of RedHat
packages depend on it. So I need krb5 1.4 in another tree and
everything pretty much flows from that.

source rpms
how can i get the source rpms for the packages installed on my centos
3.6 server? is there a certain repositories i have to add to my
yum.conf? Im trying to setup a filtering program "smartfilter" and
they want me to point to the source for squid, which i cant seem to
find. can anyone shed some light on this for me? someone i was
talking to said that centos strips out the source to keep the bulk
down, but i was hoping that wasnt the case.
