CentOS FAQ
I hadn't visited the centos forum for a long time and spotted http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/category.php?categoryid=7 Whilst it may not compare in content to the faq's of fedora/ubuntu at http://easylinux.info/wiki/Fedora it is a step in the right direction. The right additions to the FAQ may see a reduction of the frequently asked questions on the centos list. ____________________...

...dme say: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.2/readme If you know what you are doing, and absolutely want to remain at the 4.2 level, go to http://vault.centos.org/ for packages. If you follow the other link listed in that doc it goes to the centos vault with this text: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=34 There is a CentOS Vault containing old CentOS trees. This vault is a picture of the older tree when it was removed from the main tree, and does not receive updates. It should only be used for reference. I will need to keep my server os at 4.2 because that is the only one plesk sup...

Problems migrating from WBEL
Hi folks: I've recently migrated one of my production servers (bad Jason!) from WBEL to CentOS 3.3 using Donavan's instructions in the FAQ (http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19). While it was as painless as the document suggests, I've run into problems with postgrey (a postfix greylisting daemon) on my server. Whenever I try to start postgrey, I get the following error (trimmed from maillog): ERROR: can't create DB environment: No such file...

FAQs and Wiki
$TZ greetings. General questions: Should the FAQs on <http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/index.php> be migrated into the wiki or should they stay where they are at the moment or should they be just duplicated into the wiki so they can be found at two places? If everbody (here) thinks that they should move into the wiki: Is there a possibility to get all questions and answers in one...

Migrating from RHEL 4 to CentOS
Hello, I'm thinking about migrating from RHEL 4 to CentOS. Is there a document that provide pointer / guidance for doing that ? or is this document: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19 relevant enough to follow in my situation ? I understand that I should probably strip the install of any RedHat images, trademark, etc, as to not infringing any copyright. So I am wondering if there's a list of things to do / document to show that. My current installation...

migrating from rhel 3 to centos 3
Greetings - I have a rhel 3 server that I want to migrate to centos. The FAQ: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19 pretty much tells me what I need to do but what is going to happen when I run yum update? Will it replace every RPM on my system with its centos counterpart or will it only upgrade RPMS as new versions are released? This is a production system and I'm trying to figure out...

Migration
Hello all! I'm new to the list. I just upgraded 3 White Box Linux servers (database, application and internet) yesterday to Centos 3.4 using the info in http://centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19. Very easy, and that was a very helpfull document! The decision was based in the speed of updates, really much faster in Centos! Is there a similar way to upgrade a Fedora Core 1 server to Centos 3.4? Would it be possible? I saw some messages in the list about it (archives) but...
