poor performance for building route cache
I did a test shown as following diagram. (The DUT is running Linux with NAPI ethernet driver.) I add 1000 routes into DUT then use the Smartbits port1 to send packets (with destinations to all the 1000 networks) to the DUT then receive them back from the port 2. The packets are sending in a rate that is much lower than half of throughput of the DUT. The DUT will lose some packets if the DUT has empty route cache before the packets are sen...

police rate doesn''t work ?
...ff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 1 fw police rate 2500000 burst 90k drop tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 2 fw police rate 1500000 burst 90k drop tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 3 fw police rate 1000000 burst 90k drop I generate traffic with smartbits and i made this test: 1)len packet layer2 64 byte, packets per second 5500 = 2810000 bit per second 2)len packet layer2 1000 byte, packets per second 350 = 2800000 bit per second The 2 test is good i receive a trafiic with 2500000 rate limit ! The problem is with 1 test because i received full ba...

HTB performance improvement
...ation because i would like more packets/sec !! this is the scenario of the performance test: i''m using an embedded system with: SPEED CPU: 399,999 MHz RAM: 128 MByte FLASH: 16 MByte EEPROM: 8Kbyte PROCESSOR MPC8272 a lan to lan 10/100 and in particular we are sending packets from a smartbits (packet generator) to the embedded system above in the interface eth0, 10.0.0.2 -> passing trough QOS with HTB (embedded system)-> sending back traffic through the interface eth1 which is attached to the smartbits on another interface to measure received packets. with packet length...

Packet size for class A is 60 byte. Avarage packet size for class B is 250 and avarage packet size for C is 235. In class B and C there are some packets of 1500 bytes. Adsl MTU is 576. Date are received from Ethernet interface and sent over adsl. The ADSL modem is connected via usb interface to...

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys, I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates, after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve my performance problem (*laugh*): (In short, see *** below) Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device
