[PREVIEW] SmallCap
Somebody suggested SmallCap and that sounds great. This is by no stretch
of the imagination Capistrano, so it might better be named MicroCap but
it may be useful to some who have (as I do) modest needs in this regard,
especially for on-server versioning.
Here''s a preview of the usage:

SharpEye: www.visiv.co.uk
I have been running SharpEye under Wine for a few weeks now. There
are a couple of problems
1) The fonts don't always appear correct. Sometimes they correctly show as
Arial, sometimes as SmallCaps
2) Can't get TWAIN to work - see earlier message
3) The pull down menus display as XMFile etc. instead of File etc. The author
of SharpEye says this is a bug in Wine.

Naming difference in cbind between (PR#6516)
...th are correct.
I normally write in LaTeX, so I normally use {\sc S-Plus}.
First, from the literature,
the Proprietary Notice on the copyright page of the July 2001 printed
edition says
{\sc S-Plus} 6 for Windows User's Guide
Most of the internal uses of the word in the book are also in
smallcaps {\sc S-Plus}. The outside cover does say S-PLUS. The title
page says {\sc S-Plus}.
Second, by personal discussion,
I discussed this spelling with Tim Hesterberg about a year ago.
He told me that S-Plus is an appropriate spelling.
Third, by gestalt,
"S-PLUS" looks like the "PLUS&q...

Calculate a minimum-variance portfolio with fPortfolio
Hello everybody,
I'm running into an issue with the fPortfolio package.
1. What I want:
Calculate the minimum-variance portfolio on 20 assets with respect to the
following constraints:
- min weight per asset = 0% (i.e. no short-selling)
- max weight per asset = 10%
- min sum of asset weights = 100% (i.e. fully invested)
- max sum of asset weights = 100% (i.e. no leverage)
2. What I

Naming difference in cbind between S-Plus (PR#6515)
Naming difference in cbind between S-Plus and R.
I think R is wrong.
abc <- data.frame(y=1:4, x=rnorm(4))
abc.lm <- lm(y ~ x, data=abc)
predict.lm(abc.lm, type="terms") ## this is where R got the name "x"
abc <- cbind(abc, d=abc$y - predict.lm(abc.lm, type="terms"))
abc
R gives
> abc
y x x

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] YAC? (Yet Another Capistrano)
My needs are far more modest than Capistrano''s capabilities. Also, when
working in a shared hosting environment, the Capistrano model can be
outside the capabilities allowed by the Web host.
I simply need to push selected directories (on a changed-file basis) out
to a server. I have about 80% of the code written to do this (I''m
considering YAC for the name, with a nod to
