syncrepl in OpenLDAP 2.3.x (CentOS 5) and updating on a replica
Hi,
I have a setup with two CentOS 5 machines running OpenLDAP 2.3.x,
right now the primary uses slurpd to send the updates to the second
server, and the second server is using "updatedn" to allow updates
(from what I understand! I'm no OpenLDAP guru here.) Clients are using
pam_ldap and nss_ldap to get the users and authenticate them in LDAP.
Right now hosts query only the primary LDAP...

openldap package compilation flags?
Hello All.
How do I find out what flags were used to compile
the Centos openldap-2.3.27-8.el5_2.4 rpm package?
I'm specifically wondering if it was compiled with
--enable-lmpasswd
Thanks!

PDC / BDC in a Samba Domain Controller.
Hello
I makeing a Domain Controller with Samba (v3.0.33) and LDAP (v2.4).
I will install a PDC in the headquarter and a BDC in the subsidiary of
the company that I work.
The PDC and the BDC will have his own LDAP data base.
I just install the PDC without problems and my next step is to install
the BDC.
I configured the LDAP that work in multi master mode. I made some test
and the LDAP works

How to move a samba PDC to a diffrent box
Hello List,
i have got a samba pdc running based on the smbldap tools and Debian Sarge.
Now we would like to move everything over to Ubuntu Hardy.
Can i simply:
- Create the same users and groups with the same id on Hardy
- Move the files and profiles over by keeping their permissions (rsync
-avzp ...)
- Set the samba SID to be the old orginial one (i do not know how this
could be done and if

Promoting Samba BDC to PDC
...member server. All domain controllers (PDC
and BDCs) are running Gentoo Linux with Samba and LDAP. The member
server (fileserver) is a SUNS machine running Solaris. We do everything
(add, edit, modify groups and accounts) on the PDC and it will then sync
all the changes to the BDC by way of SLURPD, then from the BDC to
another BDC. To access the shared file on the member server (Solaris),
the user will authenticate using the PDC which is the password server on
smb.conf file of the member server.
What we want to do in the coming days is to turn off and upgrade the PDC
and promote one of...

Samba-LDAP TLS problems with inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages

the official libldap2 package on the system, but I made sure, libldap
and liblber are linked to version 2.2:
Package: libldap2

SunSparc, with blastwave.org OpenLDAP 2.1.27, linked to OpenSSL,
pam-ldap and nss-ldap from PADL). This system also is hosting samba
backup domain control (blastwave.org Samba 3.0.10).
As soon as the LDAP-replication is active, my windows users are

Replicated Failover Domain Controller and file server using LDAP
Hello Samba Users,
Simo and I have put together a new document which includes the latest
replication methods using Openldap.
Instead of using the ageing slurpd for replication (which is no longer
actively developed or supported); Openldap as of version 2.3 supports a new
feature called delta-syncrepl.

TLS and ldap referals
I have a samba PDC with a master openldap server
and a samba BDC with a slave openldap server.
Replication is done with slurpd with a TLS connection
and the slave ldap server has an updateref pointing

On each domain controller my smb.conf contains:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://localhost
Now I'd like my ldap servers to reject non TLS connections
except on the loopback interfac...

Hello, I have a problem that I'm really having trouble figuring out. I
run CentOS Linux 5.5. I have three servers. All have been setup and
running with LDAP authentication for a couple years with absolutely no
problems.
Unfortunately a couple weeks ago, we had a power outage. Ever since, I
am having continuous problems with authentication to the server. I see

cause replication only works from Master->Slave, if Master comes up
again, i have inconsistency in my LDAP Backends
e.g. a machine changes its machine password in Slave directory and can't
logon anymore cause the password change isn't replicated on Master
we also tried to setup slurpd (LDAP replication) on both LDAP Servers -
if both are up, everything is okay, if one is down, changes are made in
one directory, samba tells me it fails (e.g. changing passwords),
allthough it changes the attributes and so on....
so the problem is: if Slave dies, everything should go on working...

centos + ldap + syncrepl (push vs pull)
Hi,
From what I gather, OpenLDAP on Centos 5.x pulls LDAP changes from
central LDAP server to a secondary LDAP server.
So in other words, you can have your second LDAP server pull the db
based on either;
type=refreshOnly
which mean the pull interval will happen when ever you specify or;
type=refreshAndPersist
which mean after a pull, keep the pipe open for any changes made.
Now in
