App won''t install "slurm" is unsupported
I''m trying to install an application that requires RHEL 2.1. Is there
a way to set the reported version of linux so that applications
looking for Redhat versions will install?
The application errors out saying
"Verifying Red Hat Linux Release: slurm ... FAIL"
and then
"Red Hat Linux: "Slurm" is unsupported

[Request] Slurm
Hi,
I really like the tool "slurm", which lets me monitor bandwidth usage
realtime from within screen..
I would really appreciate it if this could be added to CentOS..
http://www.wormulon.net/slurm/
If some other tool that covers this need exists,
I'll be glad to hear about it.

HPC question: torques replacement
Dear Experts,
I know there are many HPC (high performance computing) experts on this
list. I'd like to ask your advise.
Almost two decades ago I chose to go with OpenPBS (turned down condor
and other alternatives for whatever reason) for clusters and number
crunchers I support for the Department at the university. It turned out
to be not bad, long lived choice. At some point I smoothly

OpenMPI not compiled with Torque support
The OpenMPI package that ships with CentOS 5.1 does not seem to be
compiled with torque support. It does, however, seem to be compiled
with gridengine and slurm support. Would it be possible to get this
changed?

[Bug 2380] New: [PATCH] Optionally allow pam_setcred to override gid
...the new gid, which is used in later functions. I don't know if this is
considered the proper way to achieve that behavior in a safe way but it
seemed logical to me. The behavior is optional; PermitGidOverride=no
is the default.
As for the reasoning, this is for a scheduled environment using Slurm.
I am developing a pam module that "adopts" ssh processes into the
appropriate batch job on the node. Users can launch jobs via Slurm
that run with their gid as one of their supplementary groups. As part
of the adoption of the ssh process, I would like to set the ssh
process's gid...

Provide AcceptEnv variables to a Linux PAM module?
...hing that would copy over
AcceptEnv variables. Am I correct that the variables are not available
to PAM? I'm guessing there are security implications to passing
arbitrary variables through to PAM but is there some other way I can do so?
The reason I ask is because I'm working with the SLURM resource manager
to monitor remote processes launched via ssh. It's not perfect, but I'm
using SendEnv and AcceptEnv to pass $SLURM_JOB_ID around. I want to run
a pam module or script that assigns sshd and its children to a
particular cgroup (based on $SLURM_JOB_ID) using a slurm API...

Rmpi_0.5-4 and OpenMPI questions
...n = 3) : no nodes available.

I may be overlooking something simple here, in particular the launching of
apps appears to be different for Open MPI than it was with LAM/MPI (or maybe
I am just confused because I also look at LLNL's slurm for use with Open MPI ?)
Has anybody gotten Open MPI and Rmpi to work on simple demos? Similarly, is
anybody using snow with Rmpi and Open MPI yet?
Also, the Open MPI FAQ is pretty clear on their preference for using mpicc
for compiling/linking to keep control of the compiler and linker options...

Dynamically allow users with OpenSSH?
Peter and Jason, thanks for your replies on this.
I was able to accomplish this with a combination of Peter's solution
and setting "AuthorizedKeysFile none" as suggested in the Stack
Overflow question.

Directory metadata inconsistencies and missing output ("mismatched layout" and "no dentry for inode" error)
Hi I'm running into a rather strange and frustrating bug and wondering if
anyone on the mailing list might have some insight about what might be
causing it. I'm running a cluster of two dozen nodes, where the processing
nodes are also the gluster bricks (using the SLURM resource manager). Each
node has the glusters mounted natively (not NFS). All nodes are using
v3.2.7. Each job in the node runs a shell script like so:
containerDir=$1
groupNum=$2
mkdir -p $containerDir
./generateGroupGen.py $groupNum >$containerDir/$groupNum.out
Then run the following jobs:...

HPC question: torques replacement
Hey Valeri -
IIRC, midway (and maybe midway2?) use slurm for job scheduling. I don't know how many of your faculty use both your nodes and midway, but maybe consolidating on to a single scheduler would be easier for them?
(also, it's been a while ... hi! ? )

I would strongly recommend that you look into slurm. It's being used here
in both large and small scale, and is explicitly for that purpose.
