some listening tests
Hi, I have a couple of samples that produce interesting artifacts when encoded with the CVS snapshot of 2001-02-13. Both are about a meg. ftp://slumber.dhs.org/tmp/4.wav.bz2 When encoded with oggenc -b 128, there is a sort of stereo separation in the drums, while in the original they are 'solidly' positioned in the stereo field. This also occurs with -b 160 and is barely audible with -b 192. ftp://slumber.dhs.org/tmp/beetles.wav.bz2 In...

mongrel_cluster 1.0.2
Hi all... After a few months of slumber, I''ve booted mongrel_cluster out the door. Nothing is really new from the prereleases except some bug fixes. I imagine there will still be some issues with ''ps'' on non-Linux platforms. I''ll gladly take patches. Most of the new stuff is described here: http://...

[ANNOUNCE] xf86-input-synaptics 1.0.0
Finally, we decided to go for a 1.0 release since 0.99.3 has been slumbering for too long. Notable improvements since the 0.15.2 release: - Improved device autoscaling. The device now reads the kernel's event interface and adjusts most parameters based on the information received. This gives a unified feel to all touchpads without the need for configuration....

Slow operation on multiprocessor machine
I was wondering if anybody else had seen the following: I have a multiprocessor system (Intel P4). I use Wine to run the Tasking 56300 DSP compiler (Tasking, brilliant folks they are, *had* a Linux version, that they DROPPED support for!). Doing a build of a fairly large project (over a hundred files), with nothing much else going on, the compiles run very slowly, the system is at less than

Changes to get CD to boot on EFI System.
