[Bug 51018] New: kernel >=3.4.0: nouveau triggers kernel BUG in slub.c on GTX 560 Ti
...it is not visible. In all cases, the machine becomes unresponsive, except for the MagicSysRq combo which works as expected. The problem occurs also with the new kernel 3.5.0-rc2. I never observed it with kernel 3.3.7 or older. The problem disappears if any of these conditions is met: * the "slub_debug" kernel option is enabled, or * the SLAB memory manager is used instead of SLUB, or * the nouveau.ko module is disabled. When the nouveau.ko module is disabled, the machine passes the whole boot into text mode, and after nouveau is loaded manually with modprobe, it stays working until X is st...

[PATCH v3] kvmalloc: always use vmalloc if CONFIG_DEBUG_SG
...BUG_SG is used, because it makes the DMA API layer > > verify the addresses passed to it, and so the user will get a reliable > > stacktrace. > > Why not just do it unconditionally? Sounds better than "50% of the time > this will catch bugs". Because kmalloc (with slub_debug) detects buffer overflows better than vmalloc. vmalloc detects buffer overflows only at a page boundary. This is intended for debugging kernels and debugging kernels should detect as many bugs as possible. Mikulas

[Bug 1440] New: kernel oops allowing a connection with nfq_set_verdict() on kernel 5.7.x with hardening parameters
...attachment.cgi?id=599&action=edit nfqueue tester Hi! Some users have reported kernel OOPs [0][1] using opensnitch, an app that uses libnetfilter_queue to allow or deny connections. These users configured several hardening parameters of the kernel, and the one that is causing this problem is: slub_debug=FZP The versions of libnetfilter_queue used are 1.0.3 (Debian/GNU) and 1.0.5 (ArchLinux). I've narrowed the problem down to nfq_set_verdict(), and only when allowing a connection. I've also reproduced it with the tester attached, a minimal version of this one: https://raw.githubuserconte...
