Samba 3.0.4 Performance Problem (tcp win 1)
Howdy. I have observed a horrific performance problem in my setup.
I'm running samba on a Linux Fedora Core 1 machine with Windows
clients. The samba server is communicating with a Windows 98 machine.
$ /usr/sbin/smbd -V
Version 3.0.4-1.FC1
The configuration of my server is mostly default with the exception of
print, passwords, and share configurations.

Viewing a data object
Dear list,
First apologize that this is trivial and just betrays my slothfulness at the keyboard. I'm sick of having to type a long name just to get a glimpse of something. For example, if my data frame is named 'AuroraStochasticRunsJune1.df" and I want to see what the middle looks like, I have to type
AuroraStochasticRunsJune1.df[ 400:500, ]
And often I'm no...

Delaying SIP disconnect after incoming call hangs up?
I'm looking for a way to delay the disconnection of a call to
a SIP extension (or pad it with silence) for a few seconds, after
an incoming call to that extension hangs up.
Rationale: I have an Asterisk PBX (current 1.4.20 codebase), with
a Leadtek BVP8051S ATA hooked to an analog phone which has a
built-in answering machine. Incoming SIP connections to the
appropriate extension are dialed

Looks like a lot of clickbait links, many from the same hosting
providers. I am also not sure how legit the use of that cropped
CentOS logo is, either.

R 0.99.0a for Ms Windows (9X/NT)
A binary distribution of R 0.99.0a is available from
http://www.r-project.org/bin/windows/windows-NT/base
Pre-compiled packages for this version are now available from the Windows

In many cases a new version is needed, and all have been rebuilt using the
latest improvements in the help conversion.

Bug#588477: network-bridge: start: 95 sec sleep/bridge without a default gateway
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.0.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
do_ifup() in network-bridge exits badly, if the interface doesn't have a
default gateway.
Since it's wrapped in xen's locking script it causes it to be retied 100
times and sleep for 95 seconds before it continues.
In my setup this amounts to:
16 vlans without a default gateway * 95 secs / bridge = 25 minutes

R-beta: R-0.62.3 is released
I have just put R-0.62.3.tgz and R-0.62.2-0.62.3.diff.gz into the FTP
area at Auckland. As usual, do not fetch it from there unless
absolutely urgent, because of the NZ Internet billing system. The
files should get mirrored to the main CRAN site in Vienna tonight and
the rest of CRAN within days.
[And, may I add, the NZ connection is slower than a sloth in a tarpit.

clipping off words inside a vector of strings
Hi,
I have a vector of strings (class character) with 6 elements (length
6). I call it 'names'.
"Graham Chapman"
"John Cleese"
"Terry Gilliam"
"Eric Idle"
"Terry Jones"
"Michael Palin"
And I want to turn it into another vector of strings called
'shortnames' with the same length.
The new vector should look like:

Slow debugger starts of LLVM tools
I'm wondering if anyone else is running into this problem.
When I do a Debug build and attempt to run a tool (opt, llvm-dis,
whatever) in gdb, the program takes a LOOOOONG time to begin executing.
Loading the executable into gdb is not the problem. I type "run" and
the debugger sits there for many seconds and then things start going.
gdb emits no messages indicating what it is

Enhance sftp protocol: get SHA hash of file
Hi,
it would be great, if the sftp protocol could be
enhanced: get sha (or other hash value) from a file or part of a file.
This would make it possible to run a rsync like file transfer
on sftp.
I would suggest a protocol like this
Client sends to Server:
get-supported hash-methods
returns whitespace seperated list like md5 sha1 sha256 ....
get-hash HASH-METHOD FILENAME STARTOFFSET

RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rolloutquestion
I don't think they are doing it with one Asterisk box. They did say "one rack of servers". Well, that might mean up to 50 computers if they are using blade servers.

MSDFS redirection WinXP SP2
I am currently having problems accesing our samba msdfs shares from
Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 and WinXP SP1 seem unaffected. I have
attached the smb.conf and the exports files that define the shares.
Running ethereal on the different clients seems to point to the fact
that XP SP2 no longer seems to be using the netbios-ssn (139) port. for
GET_DFS_REFERRAL instead its using microsoft-ds
