Samba 2.0.5a worked great on my earlier Sun Solaris 7 (5.7) Intel version. But with Solaris 8 (5.8), smbstatus reports that root did not create the semaphore; failed initialize share modes . . . . First, let me say how glad I am to discover R! As a former user of S at the University of Toronto and, briefly S-Plus from StatSci (I had a binary version of that on Slolaris for a while), I was really glad to find the "R" project.
