Problem with density()?
...I'm getting nonsense results from the density function.
When I feed it a sample generated by v<-runif(1000,0,1), I get back some
small negative numbers for density values, as follows:
>v<-runif(1000,0,1)
> dump("v","/home/tomlinso/auction/test.vector.R")
> slime<-density(v,kernel="r")
> sort(slime$y)

introspective capabilities
...ing for is to identify where in the current
image a particular name is used -- "what functions use the value bound
to a particular name?"
The context for these questions, in case anyone is interested, is that I
am usually a Common Lisp programmer, and my programming environment for
that (SLIME) is what I'm used to. R is sufficiently close to CL (the
discovery of withCallingHandlers/withRestarts was a pleasant surprise)
that I decided to experiment with implementing a SLIME backend for R --
and enough of it seems to work that I'm motivated to make it more
complete. (The current...

Nortel i2004 IP Phones
...P Phone to an *
PBX?
I have seen on the net that there should be an SIP firmware aviable for
the phone, anyone an idea where to get it? Because orginally they use a
own protocol
to connect to an Meridian, BCM or CSE1K.
Another idea is to write a module for * that can handle this protocol.

Fixing corrupt flac files
Hej,
well I'm not sure because those file that are corrupt have been around for a
quite long time. It could have been k3b but I'm really not sure. Right now I
was ripping with Audex and tagging with Audex/Amarok/kid3. Those files seem to
be fine though.
My lates approaches have been with Picard/beets :-)
I think it's not possible to share those files without getting in legal

Account Creation is disabled.
I've disabled account creation for the time being on this forum. I've had a fun weeked of dealing with the slime of humanity banning accounts and deleting posts. But, to no avail. These people don't give up. They don't care about the sites they ruin, or the sysadmins they tick off.
I need some volunteers to help moderate and watch the account queue. I'm not going to be the one who makes a full ti...

Hi
...tribution in tarred+gzipped
format?
Another question: I'm looking for some R/S routine for
calculating the Lomb-Scargle periodogram of a signal. If this
does not exist I will do it myself, of course, but I wonder if
this is already done.
Thanks a lot,

The question is, why are politicians so eager to be president? What is
it about the job that makes it worth revealing, on national television,
that you have the ethical standards of a slime-coated piece of
industrial waste? -- Dave Barry, "On Presidential Politics"

the problem is intractable, and perhaps insoluble
i'm not sure why i work so hard to be accurate and fair
when i'm discussing jim, when he in turn seems happy
to engage in innuendo and outright _lies_ to slime me.
some of the things he says are flat out 360-degree lies,
so he obviously cares not even a whit for his credibility.
which is why i feel no need any more to counter his crap.
because once you've cleared away his smoke-screen and
wiped off all of the mud he threw, it's transparently cl...

bandwidth aggregation between 2 hosts in the same subnet
Hi,
I''m trying to increase the bandwidth between two hosts (backup). Both
hosts are in the same /24 subnet and each of them is connected to
a Cisco switch by 2 GbE interfaces (intel e1000). The switches/host
are located in different building which are connected by 3 x GbE.
