C caron character in R
Hi! In R 1.6.1. for Windows using RGui interface I try to use characters of Slovenian alphabet. Slovenia is a small Slavic country south of Austria with 3 characters which are not found in English alphabet, namely C, S and Z- all with caron. As S and Z are presented OK in both Console and Graphics window, this is not the case with C caron, which is shown as E acute- for an example please see: http://www.sp.uni-lj.si/bo...

[fdo] ANN: Gnome Locale Support and Development list (fwd)
.... This was needed because most of these things were happening in translations instead of proper locales, mostly for two things: 1) The glibc locale data and functionality is limited to what it is, and does not include some features users would require in some locales, including genitive dates for Slavic languages and alternative calendars for middle eastern countries. Also, glibc data doesn't include what many applications could use for better functionality, like locale-specific exemplar characters, quotation marks, country, language, locale, and timezone names, extended currency info, text d...

Samba 4.4 userParameters problems
Hi, I recently upgraded 4.1.8 installation to 4.4.2. As per documentation I ran samba-tool dbcheck. It reported some problems with userParameters: ERROR: wrongly formatted userParameters on CN=,OU=Users,OU=MyBusiness,DC=,DC=local, should not be psudo-UTF8 encoded. I ran --fix as I read in some discussion that this was actually tested. The problem after upgrade is, that it is no longer possible

Reading in a table with ISO-latin1 encoding in MacOS-X (Intel)
Dear colleages in R, I have earlier been working with R in Linux, where reading in a table containing Scandinavian letters ("?", "?", and "?") in the header as part of variable names has not caused any problem whatsoever. However, when trying to do the same in R running on new MacOS-X (with an Intel processor) with the same original text table does not seem to

R-beta: Latin-1 characters in R and X
Hi! I have tried to print text with Latin-1 characters (????) from R to postscript and X11 window but when I'm using the interactive R-shell, I can't get them printed even from keyboard. Is there some configuration flags to use 7-bit or 8-bit character sets? TIA Juha -- : Juha Tikkanen -- juha.tikkanen at edita.fi -- http://www.edita.fi/ : : tel +358-9-566 0532 -- mob +358-40-557

Inclusive language in LLVM: can we rename `master` branch?
Hi, When we moved to GitHub a few months ago, we used without more consideration the "master" convention to name our development branch. On SVN it used to be just "trunk". This naming is unfortunate <https://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-knodel-terminology-00.html#rfc.section.1.1> as it can hurt some contributors
