how about HP's iPad-killer slate PC
...ression on the audience, but it showed that, like Dell and others, HP was not going to cede the suddenly sexy tablet market to Apple. In a cunningly timed move, a mere 48 hours after the iPad's retail debut, HP has released a new video demo of the device, which the company refers to as a "slate." The very iPad-looking tablet (http://www.laptopspark.com/products/HP-Pavilion-dv6-3230us-NoteBook-Intel-Core-i3-370M240GHz-156-4GB-Memory-500GB-HDD-5400rpm-DVD-Super-Multi-Intel-HD-Graphics-laptop-2039.html)is shown making use of different apps and features as part of a 30-second musical mo...

idmap backends, clean slates and the AD DC
...emulator AD DC would create (using the FSMO master so there is only one allocator). The big challenge we have in this area is that we have existing installations that we can't just change the defaults on, and so our ideal solution isn't the same one we could do if we started from a blank slate (cue sssd comments here). All that said, I do regret that we didn't make the rfc2307 mode the default in the AD DC prior to 4.0. I'm snowed under on so many other things, but if anyone wants to work on this, do le me know. Perhaps a good GSoC project? Thanks, Andrew Bartlett -- And...

Missed call
On some SIP phones it is possible to turn off the missed call notifications, but I am not aware of a way to do the same on any cell phones. How can I have the tests for my Rails app to be executed in a random order?
Hi How can I have the tests for my Rails app to be executed in a random order? Is there a simple solution using rake? I already posted my question to stackoverflow (http:// stackoverflow.com/questions/1376267/ruby-executing-tests-in-a-random- order-with-rake) but the few responses I got were not able to solve the problem. Thanks a lot! Pietro Di Bello

Missing methods
...rson works fine. When I try to do it in a step file, Factory.create_person is defined, but it fails because valid_person_attributes is missing. If I''m in a debugger, and I do require ''model_factory'' followed by Factory.create_person, same deal. Do we have a blank slate being loaded somewhere, and why is it wiping out require files? The next version of R will be released (barring force majeure) on June 20th, with beta versions available starting Monday. Please do check them on your system *before* the release this time... Apologies for the late announcement, but my department moved this week and I needed to be sure that my set-up survived the move. -pd -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard ?ster

Branch based on call volume
Is there a simple way to get call volume from a particular trunk within the dialplan (for conditional branching)? ...ls thanks to all of you who help with ideas, patches and bug reports! The detailed CHANGELOG is available at: http://dev.rubyonrails.com/file/spinoffs/scriptaculous/CHANGELOG? rev=2124 The next release will be 1.5_rc1, so I declare a feature-freeze for now. Newly submitted enhancements will be slated for a post-1.5 version. On the road to a 1.5 final, I see much work ahead with improving unit test coverage, adding the missing pieces in the documentation and bug hunting. Thomas

Robust Cluster
I have a learning disability. In fact, I am a learning-disabled genius. So I pretty much keep to myself. I have a few friends. It's nice to meet you all. I don't call it Replikon.Net on a whim. Lately, I am building a robust cluster. You see, I am pretty much useless without my Slate. So I have, let's see, six (6) of them right now. They are Samsung XE700T1A Business Slates. 3 with the 3G, 3 with only the WiFi. And the Ethernet. All together, they will be my cluster. VMWare will share the i5 Sandy Hook cores to the MathCAD 6.0 Plus software running on XP as needed. It wil...
