Hi everybody, I installed Rglpk package from local zip files. Then I tried to load the package in a R session. But R shows following message. Loading required package: slam Error: package 'slam' could not be loaded In addition: Warning message: In library(pkg, character.only = TRUE, logical.return = TRUE, lib.loc = lib.loc) : there is no package called 'slam' Hence, the

Attention newbies, an apology.. I WASN'T slamming you.
I'm sorry I gave the appearance I was slamming you. The tone was supposed to be "Please, help yourself first, here's why... here's ALL of the resources I use to help myself." I've successfully been able to keep questions about Samba to this list down to a minimum by first consulting all of my sources and perhaps you can, too. As I read it again, it had the appearance

iptables/ blocking brute-force attacks, and so on...
I've just posted this to another list where we were talking about the same old issues we've been plagues with recently - I'd already posted some iptables rules, but added more to it for this... This script probably isn't compatable with anything else, but I don't run anything else. It's also designed to act on the incoming interface, not to run in a router, but

optimization with Sparse matrices
To whom it may concern, I am trying to maximize a log-likelihood function using optim. This is a simple problem with only 18 parameters. To conserve memory, I am using sparse matrices (SLAM) for some of the data matrices used in the computation of the likelihood. However, optim appears to convert the sparse matrix back to regular data format. This causes me to run out of memory as R tries to

ANN: new rails site/RoR praise
Hi, >From idea to launch in less than 48 hours (those 48 hours including the new year party ;) , rails once again showed its effectiveness. Last friday I read the news about a guy who sold a million pixels for 1$ each on his homepage. After slamming my head during half an hour for not having thought of it [1], I thought I''d better spend some time on a rails project, and more as a

Marketing stuff
Hello, I took the liberty of quickly slamming together http://www.theora.org/benefits/ . This is supposed to answer the "why should you use Theora" question in some detail. This section is not yet included in the navigation bar and I'd like to get confirmation that this information can be considered "canon" before making it "visible" (oh, and of course someone

R 4.0 for ARM processors
Dear R-SIG-Debian folks, I seem to be chasing my tail, despite having a simple goal: - Install R 4.0.2 - On Ubuntu 20.04 - For an ARM processor (not Intel/AMD). Can someone please suggest a Debian/Ubuntu repository of the required packages (e.g., r-base-core) built for ARM? I can't seem to find one. (I can find the r-base-core package for R 3.6.3, but not R 4.0.2, built for ARM.) If there

Cannot allocate a vector of size...
Muchas gracias Xabier. He intentaddo trabajar con la sparse matrix pero al pasar tdm a matriz me dice también que "cannot allocate a vector of size 12 gb". He hecho tdm<-as.matrix(tdm) ¿Está bien hecho eso para trabajar con la sparse matrix? Gracias! ...certain length of time if possible), then that would be VERY useful. This functionality could also be useful for mail servers, ftp servers, and just about anything else where you know what the attack looks like in the logs. For instance, I run a web server (not the one below, yet) that is getting slammed by people infected with Nimda. Logs show multiple requests by the same client for "cmd.exe" and "root.exe". Sometimes there''s only one or two sessions of these requests, and sometimes they keep coming back again and again. Problem is, I don''t have the time to...

Estimating credit card default probabilities.
Folks, I am working on a credit card defaults and transition probabilities. For example a single credit card account could be in a number of states: up-to-date, 30, 60, 90 days in arrears or in default. * Are there packages in R that do estimation of the transition probabilities given historical cohort defaults? * Any pointers to papers specific to this type of estimation? * Simulation of future

restrict postfix to only certain users getting incoming mail
...oot, this is a massive issue. Root gets a lot of mail from errors on the system. Preventing local delivery (or through the alias file, delivery through root to another user) makes root never receive those important mails. Not preventing root from incoming mails means root at example.com can be slammed with spam. Local and external mail all seem to go through all of the programs (postfix, procmail, spamassassin, dovecot). Local delivery of mails is needed for root. What I would like is to just tell postfix to only allow incoming mail for user1 and user2 and reject all...but only from extern...

Postfix Questions
I've been running sendmail since the beginning of my online time. 1. Did I see that postfix can run sendmail milters? 2. If so, did I read that postfix can run these separately for inbound vs. outbound? 3. Can it run like a rbl blacklist on inbound and not outbound? 4. If the above is true, does this require separate configurations of postfix or is it already set to allow this out of the
