regarding Rglpk loading
Hi everybody, I installed Rglpk package from local zip files. Then I tried to load the package in a R session. But R shows following message. Loading required package: slam Error: package 'slam' could not be loaded In addition: Warning message: In library(pkg, character.only = TRUE, logical.return = TRUE, lib.loc = lib.loc) : there is no package called 'slam' Hence, the package was not loaded. Can anyone help me as to how to load the package Rglpk?...

Attention newbies, an apology.. I WASN'T slamming you.
I'm sorry I gave the appearance I was slamming you. The tone was supposed to be "Please, help yourself first, here's why... here's ALL of the resources I use to help myself." I've successfully been able to keep questions about Samba to this list down to a minimum by first consulting all of my sources and perhaps you...

iptables/ blocking brute-force attacks, and so on...
...uessing, while leaving the server open to the world in-general (which is essential if, as I do, you offer SIP trunking services to people with dynamic IP addresses, and generally want yourself or staff to connect remotely to your own SIP server when out and about) I'll call this activity "slamming". Ideally we want the solution to be as general purpose as possible without continually having to "tune" it to re-parse log-files or add/remove IP addresses manually and so on. Essentially a "fire and forget" type approach. (However, we should never really forget it an...

optimization with Sparse matrices
To whom it may concern, I am trying to maximize a log-likelihood function using optim. This is a simple problem with only 18 parameters. To conserve memory, I am using sparse matrices (SLAM) for some of the data matrices used in the computation of the likelihood. However, optim appears to convert the sparse matrix back to regular data format. This causes me to run out of memory as R tries to create an 8GB matrix. In short, it does not look as though "optim" is compatible...

ANN: new rails site/RoR praise
Hi, >From idea to launch in less than 48 hours (those 48 hours including the new year party ;) , rails once again showed its effectiveness. Last friday I read the news about a guy who sold a million pixels for 1$ each on his homepage. After slamming my head during half an hour for not having thought of it [1], I thought I''d better spend some time on a rails project, and more as a therapy than in the hope to become a millionair, I put http://milliondollarweek.com in place. It was a real pleasure to see the implementation progress...

Hello, I took the liberty of quickly slamming together http://www.theora.org/benefits/ . This is supposed to answer the "why should you use Theora" question in some detail. This section is not yet included in the navigation bar and I'd like to get confirmation that this information can be considered "canon" before...

R 4.0 for ARM processors
...not R 4.0.2, built for ARM.) If there is no such Debian/Ubuntu repository, what would you recommend? Build R 4.0 for ARM from source? Use the cool 'rocker' images for R 4.0? Something else? Thank you so much for your advice. I must be misunderstanding something. I figured this would be a slam-dunk because (1) R 4.0 is the latest release, and (2) Ubuntu 20.04 is an LTS release, and (3) ARM is a supported architecture, or so I thought. Paul PS - Yes, the ARM processors in question are a Raspberry Pi cluster. Don't snicker. Hey, it's got 16 cores, 16 GB RAM total, and a terabyte...

Cannot allocate a vector of size...
Muchas gracias Xabier. He intentaddo trabajar con la sparse matrix pero al pasar tdm a matriz me dice también que "cannot allocate a vector of size 12 gb". He hecho tdm<-as.matrix(tdm) ¿Está bien hecho eso para trabajar con la sparse matrix? Gracias! This functionality could also be useful for mail servers, ftp servers, and just about anything else where you know what the attack looks like in the logs. For instance, I run a web server (not the one below, yet) that is getting slammed by people infected with Nimda. Logs show multiple requests by the same client for "cmd.exe" and "root.exe". Sometimes there''s only one or two sessions of these requests, and sometimes they keep coming back again and again. Problem is, I don''t have the time...

[LLVMdev] Question about changes to llvm::Argument::addAttr(AttributeSet AS) API
...sible work with ToT, because the > bug reports those users contribute. (And, what is the standard response > when somebody finds a bug on a released version? "upgrade to ToT") So > you don't want to scare away people from working with ToT. Using a development branch and then slamming those changes into trunk is at odds with the llvm style incremental development philosophy. Living on ToT isn't easy. No one ever said it would be. The changes that are being complained about have only been happening for about a week now. And they're more stable day by day. -bw

restrict postfix to only certain users getting incoming mail
...oot, this is a massive issue. Root gets a lot of mail from errors on the system. Preventing local delivery (or through the alias file, delivery through root to another user) makes root never receive those important mails. Not preventing root from incoming mails means root at example.com can be slammed with spam. Local and external mail all seem to go through all of the programs (postfix, procmail, spamassassin, dovecot). Local delivery of mails is needed for root. What I would like is to just tell postfix to only allow incoming mail for user1 and user2 and reject all...but only from ext...

Postfix Questions
...or is it already set to allow this out of the box? My reasoning... I've added a few milters which has drastically cut spam due to the extra time spent at the smtp level. For instance, running spamassassin takes a couple or few seconds. This bit of delay does in fact seem to stop many of the slamming spambots sort of like the design of milter-greylist. Except, I don't have to send a temp fail. So, this is a good thing. The negative is it also takes longer for my users to send mail as it is processed the same way during outgoing. Also, we run the SpamHaus blacklist. This works pretty...
