Banging my head on wall (hosts)
...its the ability to write modules/classes that work in 90% of the cases and can be overridden in the other 10%. This simplifies configuration a lot. Am I just doing something wrong? Am I crazy? Am I thinking too much like a programmer? Do I suck? Just looking for thoughts? Effect of "login_process_per_connection = no"?
Using dovecot version v1.0.beta8 on FreeBSD 6.1_RELEASE with login_process_per_connection = no in the dovecot.conf file, I still get a new imap process for each IMAP login. That is, if a single user logs in five times, five imap processes are created. The difference appears to be that with a "yes" setting each user login causes a new copy of the imap-login processes to be forked,

Licensing and Copyright
Hi all, I fear this discussion will quickly devolve into a recursive flame- fest, but it needs to be broached, so here we go. Note that I kind of think this is more of dev topic than users, but I want to make sure everyone knows the conversation is happening and can easily participate. This is also likely to be the first of a series of conversations I''ll be starting to try to

puppetlabs-ntp template discussion
Hi guys, As I mentioned in a previous email I''ve refactored ntp and released a 1.0.0 release candidate. There''s one outstanding "flaw" remaining that''s bothering me and I wanted to solicit opinions on the list. We currently maintain a template per distribution that is close to the stock distribution provided ntp configuration. This leads to massive

Community: How to deal with attempts at sabotage
Hi all, The underlying assumption of membership in any community is that your participation is at worst neutral, and if possible positive. Communities, online or off, generally do what they can to protect themselves from detrimental influences, which is where policies, politeness, moderators, and all that come into play. Puppet''s community has been both fortunate and awesome,
