object class with STI and Polymorphic Assoc''s.
Hi, lets say I have a a table, "Linkings" that I am using for polymorphic associations. One of the associations is to the "person" table, and there are several other associations. "Person" has 2 types, "slacker" and "suckup". It is modelled as such: class Linking < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :person belongs_to :linkable, :polymorphic => true end class Person < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :linkables end class Slacker < Person end class Yadda < Person end I''...

SIP URI Dialplan?
I've got soft phone that allows me to dial SIP URI's. I'd like to route these calls through a provider to be completed, because I'm beind a NAT box and doing it directly doesn't work. Right now I've got an extension defined like this: Dial(IAX2/${FWDUSERID}:${FWDPASSWD}@${FWDSERVER}/**356<username>) This will connect a call to FWD and call a user at FWD. It works

Mac Mini and chan_bluetooth, has anyone told The o if it works?
I googled on this for about an hour and the most relevant hit I got was, of course, the first hit: http://www.sowerbutts.com/linux-mac-mini/#support In it, he indicates that the stock Bluetooth module "should work, but untested" - he doesn't qualify the statement with anything. Has anyone tried chan_bluetooth or even the Bluz stack on a Mini or a G5? If so, under Linux or OSX?

Third time, is it a charm?
Okay sorry for the empty message bodies earlier problem with Outlook, I guess is you have digital IDs as I do and they expire, even if you override the signature option it clears all sent text....windows...mmmmph.... Anyway, what I was trying to relay to the group was that ZyXEL has come out with a new Firmware (March 21, 2005) for the Prestige 2000W WiFi SIP Phone. In my opinion it has made

...network at all. Had to visit the datacenter to reboot them. All the NM systems had the network start fail, and continued with the boot, and as soon as the interface comes online, NM brings up the network and triggers all network-dependent services to come online. Again, this is probably the ex-Slacker in me throwing all the junk out and just keeping what's really needed. Cheers & thanks for your detailed explanations. You've tickled my curiosity, so as soon as I finish writing my current Linux book (around X-mas I guess) I'll have a deeper look at all that stuff. Niki -- Mic...

This might be a good time for tagging 2.5.6 perhaps. A fair number of bugfixes ha...

SIP Dial between two IAX-connected boxes?
...the wrong terms. I'm working on a SIP-only VOIP system. I have two Asterisk servers. One server (A) is behind a (NATing) firewall and the other (B) is in a DMZ. A and B communicate via IAX2. In A's dialplan, when it detects a SIP call (essentially using the rules presented here: http://slacker.com/~nugget/asterisk7.php), instead of trying to make the call itself, I'm trying to use Dial to connect to B via IAX. B would then assign the SIP call to a context that would actually make the call. I'm currently stumped by what seems to be IAX's choking on the "@" characte...

Sip.conf: domain=huh?
So I saw mention of a way to allow dialing using SIP URI's on Dave McNett's site at http://slacker.com/~nugget/projects/asterisk/page7 Wow, awesome, I can call anywhere now. However, I think there is a more elegant way of figuring out whether or not the local * server should handle a given domain. Specifically, Dave compares a series of domains within extensions.conf to figure out how to handle...

ignored blocks in redcloth
...ah * blah where $permission$ is ignored by redcloth, so it doesnt affect the rendering of wiki syntax -> html, but appears when you edit a page (perk for me would to also have it not appear in the rendered html). Why would anyone want this? Well, I am trying setup Instiki for my association of slackers. Rather than have 2 wikis, one internal and one external, I decided to create a plugin for Instiki to handle page permissions. This is done through a series of filters combined with basic auth, so Redcloth nor Instiki is directly changed. My problem is having a $permission$ block in redcloth scre...

...nd use that. It seems the basic structure of NIS authentication does not allow this. Please tell me I'm wrong, that you've done this, and that you'll send me your relevant config files. I don't think it will work but hey... -k p.s. if you have another idea for my "slacker sso" plan, i'd love to hear it.

Resigning as lead of the Virt SIG
Hi all, I wanted to let you know that I feel I need to step down as leader of the Virtualisation SIG. When I originally was approached by KB to do this, it was always clear that this would be a temporary thing until the SIG got going. At the time, only Xen and CentOS folks were involved with the SIG. Since then, we added oVirt and Docker maintainers, have a total of 5 maintainers and built good

Beginner couple of questions
Dear all, I have some questions, I'm sure it's pretty stupid for most of you, but I need you guys to help me. Here are my questions: 1. Music On Hold, it doesn't play any sound on the parked call or hold call. But if I do ps-ax, it shows mpg123 .....( I forgot the exact line). I'm using slackware 9.1 2. I have fxs 3 port, and in my zapata.conf I have included callpickup=1-4,

Can't get password policies (bad lockout attempt) to work on Samaba 3 + OpenLDAP
...ointers to a good samab.schema file that includes sambaBadPasswordCount and sambaBadPasswordTime attributes? BTW, I download the source code of 3.0.4 of samba and I see from source/auth/auth_sam.c and source/lib/smbldap.c that there is support for this password policy. Thanks a bunch. OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 vs. 2.0.2
Hi, I recently migrated from Slackware 10.2 to CentOS 4.3, upon advice of fellow Slacker and CentOS user Daniel de Kok. Been working very intensively for the last three weeks with it, and I must say: I really like it. This is the Real Work(tm) Distro I was always looking for! There's a practical reason for this: beginning on June 1st I will be chief sysadmin of our village's t...

Introduction
...OME desktop with just a handful of apps needed for work. I've fiddled with CentOS before, around when 4.3 came out, and it was a close second in the choice of OS here. Had 5.0 been out at the time, I would gladly have chosen it. I've discussed the subject with Daniel de Kok, a fellow ex-Slacker and friend, and he's told me so many good things about the latest release of CentOS that I'm now seriously considering replacing my Debian installs with CentOS. I have an armada of PCs that i can fiddle with, and I've currently installed two different versions of CentOS, one as mini...
