sox, ipsec-tools, samba
Hi all,
Lance got married and is a little distracted, at the moment. :)
so I built sox, samba and ipsec-tools for centos.
They're available here:
http://linux.duke.edu/centos/samba/ - RHSA-2004:259-23
http://linux.duke.edu/centos/sox/ - RHSA-2004:409-05
http://linux.duke.edu/centos/ipsec-tools/ - RHSA-2004:308-06
These are all for Centos-3
They're signed with my gpg key. As soon as

Cleaning up smp kernels
I have used the package-cleanup utility to remove old kernel packages,
but I noticed that it only removes the 'kernel' and 'kernel-devel'
packages. It does not touch 'kernel-smp', 'kernel-hugemem', etc. What
is the recommended method of cleaning up these other kernel packages?
Should I just 'yum remove' the ones I don't need?
Some of my servers have a

agreed - I have been discussing this at length with Skvidal and Orc etc,
the most recent proposal is to auto install the gpg key only if it is the
same key that the yum rpm has been signed with - by checking fingerprints,
otherwise to squawk.
In any event to tell the user that the key has bene installed and how to
check whether the key has been compro...

rpm and srpm for dovecot
hi,
I put an rpm and srpm for dovecot on:
http://www.dulug.duke.edu/~skvidal/RPMS/
They are made under rhl 7.3 - should build on 8.x I'd bet.
I added an init script to start up imap-master
I've done exactly ZERO testing on these and I'd welcome some feedback,
thanks.

0.99.4 released
This fixes the last weird bugs that I know of. Now just a few more
missing features and 1.0 should be there :)
v0.99.4 2002-12-01 Timo Sirainen <tss at iki.fi>
- Command parser had several bugs when it didn't have enough data to
parse the full command in one call, ie. network lags etc. triggered
those bugs sometimes. This was the last "weird bug" I know of.

Errors in /var/log/maillog and /var/log/dovecot.log
I am trying to migrate from UW imap to dovecot.
OS: RHEL 3 X86
MTA: Postfix
Auth: PAM (NIS server)
Most of the users are fine, but I have some users have problems:
"
Jan 14 09:18:42 Info: imap-login: Internal login failure: user=<user1>,
method=PLAIN, rip=X.X.X.X, lip=X.X.X.X, TLS
"
This happens on dovecot version dovecot-1.0.alpha5-1 and dovecot-0.99.11-1

dovecot replacing uw-imap
Hey,
I'm trying to sort out how to make dovecot replace uw-imap cleanly. But
I have the following problems/questions:
1. Why is mbox support limited to user-owned directories?
2. Would it be possible to have dovecot target a different place than
~user/mail by default, specfically some place like
/var/path/to/maildirs/userdir/
I'd like to move all my mail storage out of user homedirs and

update killed my x
X server, that is (as opposed to my ex-spouse...) Anyway, I was
loving life with my rebuilt 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0custom041130a kernel,
and then ran "yum update", which gave me a grub line for
2.4.21-20.0.1EL, but the 21-20 not only won't work with the old X
settings, I can't get it to set up X at all. I tried running "yum
update" from a console on this kernel, but yum

PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems
Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img
set from Centos 4.0beta2?
I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images
fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the
kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor
random characters. Not a good start to an install...
Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0?
Thanks in advance.
