SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4
I've downloaded Samba 2.2.6 (binaries) from SCOs Skunkware site, but when I try and run smbclient I get a message : dynamic linker : smbclient : error opening /usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4 Killed I've checked and there is no libncurses.so.4 (or libncurses.<anything> for that matter) on the system. I've also failed to find anything rele...

Samba Open Server 5 package?
Hello, I'm having trouble installing Samba on a SCO Open Server 5 system. I have gone over the Skunkware CD and the Caldera Website. I can find TAR'd versions of SAMBA but for some reason it won't let me start smbd or nmbd without giving me a core dump. Does anyone know either 1. why I'm getting the core dumps or 2. If there is a package install for OSv5. The reason I ask is I have...

...d keep an old OpenServer system or two alive as needed to ensure access to old data by running virtual machine on VMware. VMware works well with 5.0.7, or you can find my old notes on Google about how to virtualize some of the older releases. You can, in theory, try to build up the tool chain from Skunkware published tools at ftp://ftp2.sco.com/pub/skunkware/osr5 to get a more recent Samba version, but I don't recommend it. I went through that for OpenSSH, and it was really non-pretty. Rather, if possible, I'd look at using a more modern Linux or possibly OpenBSD as a Samba server, if needed,...

SAMBA digest 2289
I also set up samba 2.0.5a (binaries from Skunkware) on a SCO 5.0.5 server. I have a conf file, but it's on my laptop, and that's downstairs, and I'm about to get ready to leave, so I'll dig it up later. :) From what I remember though, all I changed was: - the workgroup name, - turned off browse master - turned off the printi...

...llocates something like 12-15 semaphores on startup (if I can remember the header file right). I'd go into your tunable parameters and change the amount of semaphores to 50-60 or so. In another thread, I *do* have Samba running on 5.0.4, and I compilied it from source, and didn't use the Skunkware version. Skunkware seems to be a bad distribution of it, as I never got Samba to work when using it. If anyone needs help with a sucessful smb.conf, SWAT config or NT stuff with SCO, mail me off the list. get_share_modes problem
I have samba 2.0.5a running on Openserver 5.0.5 with the latest patches installed. I got this specific version from Skunkware (SCO's distribution of Open Source binary packages). AFAIK, they make no changes to the actual source. I have no problems with using samba for name service and printing, however with file sharing I am having some strange problems. I sporadically get problems like read only access messages f...

Compiling with SCO
Has anybody tried to to compile SAMBA using gcc under SCO unix 5? This may just be a problem I'm having using the gcc compiler, but I'm having problems. I would just like to know if anyone's done it, and any special problems they may have had. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

SAMBA digest 2549 / Important Question
...>Tel : 21 362 11 25 >Fax : 21 362 21 12 >--------------------------------------------- >mailto:cbarbosa@guerreiroddb.pt Hi, I am using Samba on SCO OpenServer 5.05 without any problems, but certain things have to be taken care of. 1. Do not use the Samba binary provided by SCO via Skunkware. It is version 2.05a and this version will not run on a SMP system. All newer versions (including the actual 2.0.7) will work, but you have to compile it yourself. 2. If you are using lp- and lpr-printing together you have to specify a separate Samba printcap-file for the dummy entries. Otherw...

Error ERRaccess in Samba 2.0.7 printing to Netgear print servers
I recently compiled and installed Samba 2.0.7 on SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 using gcc v 2.7.2.1 (Skunkware 98). I was running Samba 1.9.18p7 with no problems. We use a modified smbprint.sysv script to print to Windows shared printers and also Netgear PS104 print servers. Printing to the Windows shared printers is working fine, but printing to the Netgear print servers does not work. I get the f...

Still Problems with Samba and Sco OpenServer 5

Network logon & slow connection issues
Hi: I am running Samba 2.5 because SCO's skunkware version of 2.6 just would not run. I am running SCO OpenServer 5.04, which I wish there was a smbclient so that I could perform more adequate server side testing. I am currently faced with three issues which I have not found solutions too. 1. I the log.user name I have found the users do connect...

Looking for compiled version 1.9 of Samba - revised
Much thanks to all respondents. Since 1.9 is a very old version, I have the source code but am looking (close to begging) for someone who has a compiler to create an executable for me. I would be glad to send along the source , if you could compile and return an executable. This is the better request than to ask someone for their compiler. Thank you Paul Davis Sr. Business Development Manager
