SIGHUP/av[0] restart failure
...ror: No such file or directory.
The sshd program is not named anything unusual, and is located in
/usr/local/sbin.
I searched this list (and other places), and found some info related
to the above, but not anything that I'd call a solution or a
resolution.
Help? Thanks!

Dashboard table resource_statuses growing uncontrollably
I''ve "inherited" the administration of a puppet-dashboard (version
1.1.0, installed on RHEL 5.6 from puppetlabs RPM), and have hit a
problem I''m hoping for some help with.
In short, one table, "resource_statuses" appears to be growing at a
rate far higher then the other tables:
mysql> select count(*) from nodes;

chrooting/jailing transfer-only accounts

(As an aside, I'd appreciate it if people would look at the attached
script, and let me know if they can see any obvious holes in it.
I've tried unsuccessfully to break out if it is set up properly, but
others may have more success.)

/tftpboot file locations
Has anyone had any luck with moving files outside of /tftpboot? Its been
particularly frustrating in my environment to support files within this
directory. Especially since I support three different architectures and
need to differentiate their boot loaders, kernels, configs, initrd's,
etc. I'd really like to symlink off to my AFS space and let the sysname
values do the work.

definitively fix the AIX problem, nor do I know whether they will be
committed to CVS, nor do I know if there will be a new release in the
next few days incorporating these fixes.
Can someone authoritatively answer this question?

Problems with the tty's in openssh + AIX
Hi everybody.
I posted this also to comp.sec...ssh, so excuse me for multiple emails.
I downloaded openssh-3.5p1 and compiled under AIX.
Now,
if I run that program, Sandor W. Sklar in bugzilla #124 suggested (see
below),
it works in linux, not in AIX 5.1.
in AIX it produces the same "hang" as the original problems Ihave with
"tclsh"-command. sshd hangs with this output:
debug1: channel 0: read<=0 rfd 11 len 0
debug1: channel 0: read failed

merging multiple diskettes for pxelinux usage
I have some hardware vendor diagnostic utilities that I'd like to use
via PXE. One example is a three diskette test suite. How can I merge
all these diskettes into a single PXE bootable image?
I have been using pxelinux, memdisk, and isolinux successfully for other
things, so I'm a little embarrased even asking. Is there a way to PXE
boot ISO images? Can syslinux support larger than 2.8MB

ssh/sshd_config option confusion ...

no "logical" grouping.
For my own use, I've created a heavily annotated sample sshd_config
file, grouping all of the various directives in a way that seemed to
make the most sense. This file is available at:

notices an error or omission (I based it on the 3.0.1p1 man pages).
If there is any interest in replacing the current sample conf files
that are bundled with the distribution with this one (...

Scads of defunct processes ins AIX 4.3.3
I hope someone can help. I've installed 2.9p2 on a number of AIX boxes and
it works great.
The problem is that a HUGE >700 number of defunct processes get generated
by sshd. Did I do
something wrong ? Any suggestions ?
Please email chuck at fiu.edu as I don't subscribe to the list.
TIA,
Chuck

Making the above change in the 2.3.0p1 and the 2.5.1p1 source
distributions solves the problem, however, I don't know if there
might be any other ill effect, or if the change will have an effect
on other platforms.

OpenSSH 4.7p1, AIX 5.2, with IBM Kerberos = No Joy.
...ot found
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 1.
Any ideas, or even a clear statement that this will or not work? I
really don't want to build and install MIT Kerberos for our systems,
when the IBM-provided tools work for most of what we need.
Thanks,

Call for testing for 3.6
We are heading into a lock here. So we need to get people to test their
respective platforms if they wish them to be supported out of the tar file.
So if you have any patches you need to ensure your platform works speak
up. We are looking at a lock on the 17th.
I believe I have an AIX/Cray patch and a Tru64 patch sitting in my mailbox
that I'll be looking at soon and more than likely

I just saw your post and I would definitely be interested in an 8 MB DOS

Dashboard parameters to control VIPs?
Some of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers in our environment
sometimes get assigned virtual IP addresses (eth0:1, eth0:2, etc).
Puppet Dashboard''s parameters seem like an ideal way to define and
provision virtual IPs on these servers. One could create a "vip1"
parameter on a node, and define a value of the IP address to use for
that vip. A manifest could then be written to

AIX usrinfo() cleanup.
Can we do this? Or should we drop the whole char *tty; ? There will
be no way of setting the TTY= correctly while using privsep (Mainly for
multiple streams over single session).
The only thing we really could do is do:
In do_setusercontext()
if (use_privsep)
aix_usrinfo(pw, NULL);
and back in the old spot put:
if (!use_privsep)
aix_usrinfo(pw, s->ttyfd == -1 ? NULL : s->tty);

AIX reading /etc/environment out of step.
I was discussing with Don about a private topic..and while skimming the
code I noticed that during a 'ssh mouring at site ls' the /etc/environment
is *ONLY* read if the remote machine is an AIX box. This is undocumented
and I'm wondering if someone using AIX could explain WHY it exists in the
session.c:do_child()? No other OS has this. I don't see why AIX should
require it.
