Monitoring services
What's available to remotely monitor services? What I'd like is something
that can run scripts for each service to connect to a port and verify that
it's up, and then send me an SMS message (phone text) to let me know which,
if any, are down.
Also, does a script exist that checks all the services listed by chkconfig
and reports those that should be up but are down?

Strange Multi-homed Traceroute/Ping failure for some IPs on some routes
...empts to IPs that work are listed as
being dropped, but traffic doesn?t even seem to hit the others at all
and no entries are made. This is a multi-ISP configuration with two
providers, however I am 99.999% sure this isn''t a Shorewall issue at
all for reasons I will explain below.
Siteuptime.com shows some of its sites able to connect to IPs within
the routed block and others unable (US sites ok, London failed). I
also have a number of traceroutes from network-tools.com which I
attach to this mail. Some of the IPs within the routed block don?t
seem to be hitting the firewall at...

Memory leaks in my site
Hi all,
My environment is ruby-1.8.4, rails 1.2.2, mongrel 1.0.1, linux 2.6. Now, i
have a problem on memory leaks with mongrel. My site is running 5 mongrel
processes on a 2G RAM machine, the memory of each process grows from about
20M to about 250M, but it never recover to the initial 20M, so i had to
restart the mongrel processes once per day. The load is about 1M hits per
day.
