XCP jumbo frames in vm
...twork, the corresponding PIF, and the VIF to 9000 and when
displayed in ifconfig it shows that this is indeed true. I have
several CentOs 5.6 VMs running in HVM mode (i.e. no xen kernel) which
attach to the the storage network through these VIFs and when I
attempt to enable jumbo frames, I receive: SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid
argument, I receive the same error from ifconfig eth1 mtu 9000 and
making the change in the ifcfg-eth1 config file. This is the driver I
have running from lspci -vv

set large mtu on bridged network
...the interface on
domU?
Eventhough ''ifconfig eth4 mtu 4000'' command worked in my case, whether
it reflect on the actual device?
Moreover I can''t set mtu for the bridge as 4k. Setting any value above
1500 mtu shows the following error,
xen-152:~ # ifconfig xenbr1 mtu 4000
SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument
So how to set large mtu in a bridged network on xen?
regards
Masroor

[Bridge] MTU Question
I have a bridge that has gigabit interfaces. The machine in question has the
fun job of being a Bridge, Firewall and SMB server. Both of the Gigabit
interfaces are connected to workstations directly via Xover cable (well
MDI-X to be exact). My question is, if I enable jumbo frames on the gigabit
interfaces will that make any difference in overall transfer rate of the
bridge? I was thinking it

VLANs with Xen - work with 1 Gbit, doesn''t with 100 Mbit cards?
...y is it so? What is so fundamental in Xen networking that VLANs
behaviour change so much whether one uses a 1 Gbit, or 100 Mbit network
cards?
There is one difference between 1 Gbit and 100 Mbit cards - 100 Mbit
cards won''t allow to set the MTU bigger than 1500:
# ifconfig eth1 mtu 1501
SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument
But I''m not sure if it has anything with the described VLAN problem.
On the other hand, if I configure VLANs in domU, it works fine then (but
it''s a bad approach for me, and prefer to have VLANs in dom0 only).

CentOS, RTL8196 and jumbo frames.
...all,
I've just upgraded my home network to a Linksys SRW2024 (with lovely
vlan trunking support!) and I'm trying to enable jumbo frames. When I
try to set the MTU of an rtl8169 based network card (it's a Netgear
RA311), it comes up with an error stating:
# ifconfig eth1 mtu 9000
SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument
The only options it will take are 1500 or below. Does anyone know
anything about this? Do I need to set something special?

[Bridge] My configuration in Bridge, 802.1Q VLAN, and hotmail login, Thanks to all
Hi All,
For my issue, first thanks to ALL, I have some idea of it.
Also Thank Peter for his kind remind, I would become one good guy in
this list.
Most mentioned MTU, but how I assure that the problem is just MTU, how I
debug it?
Here is my bridge configuration:

Cannot set MTU != 1500 on Intel NIC

Hi list,
I have a *very* strange problem, unfortunately it's kind of a show
stopper regarding the deployment of the machine. :(
I have two Intel Gigabit Ethernet NICs on board (Supermicro-based
Server), quoting lspci (full output see at the end of the email):
