netcdf
Hello,
I have been having difficulties opening netcdf files using the netcdf
library. I am able to successfully open the file and I can determine the
names and size. However, when I try to read it I receive an error.
Reading the documentation, I am wondering if this might be due to a
difference between netcdf version 2 and more recent netcdf format? I've
tried using different values for the

_Float16 support
I'd like to start a discussion about how clang supports _Float16 for target architectures that don't have direct support for 16-bit floating point arithmetic.
The current clang language extensions documentation says, "If half-precision instructions are unavailable, values will be promoted to single-precision, similar to the semantics of __fp16 except that the results will be stored

Poor gluster performance on large files.
Hi gluster users,
I've spent several months trying to get any kind of high performance out of
gluster. The current XFS/samba array is used for video editing and
300-400MB/s for at least 4 clients is minimum (currently a single windows
client gets at least 700/700 for a single client over samba, peaking to 950
at times using blackmagic speed test). Gluster has been getting me as low

Mem_event API and MEM_EVENT_REASON_SINGLESTEP
Hello,
I''m interested in using the mem_event API (or it''s LibVMI wrapper), but
I''m interested in capturing write events anywhere in a domU guest''s
memory, _and_ not just once for each page write, but every time a page
is being written to.
To this end, I''ve looked at the xen-access.c example, where at first all
the pages are being monitored:

I'm trying to set up my LDAP in preparation to configure my Samba PDC.
In the Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide it give instructions
on howto setup slapd.conf (section 10.4.4.3) After modifying the file
it instructs to run /sbin/splapindex -f /splapd.conf When I run this I
get the following error:

Hello,
I am on Ubuntu Server 13.04 with Linux 3.8.
I''ve created a "single-raid" using /dev/sd{a,b,c,d}{1,3}. One of my hard

Why double quote is preferred?
?'`' shows the following:
"Single and double quotes delimit character constants. They can be
used interchangeably but double quotes are *preferred* (and character
constants are printed using double quotes), so single quotes are
normally only used to delimit character constants containing double
quotes."
It is not clear to me why double quote is preferred (I don't think

netCDF
Thomas,
I'm using your package netCDF. Thanks for making
it and for leave it available for public use.
It took me a little while installing it, as my
netcdf library is libnetcdf.a (not libnetcdf)
and my library directory is not /usr/local/lib.
Finally, I was able to install with the following:
1. ln -s libnet.a libnet (in my usr/local/netcdf-3.5.0/lib directory)
2. R CMD INSTALL

Configuring custom library
Hi,
I''ve added a custom library called lib\AccountSystem like so:
"module AccountSystem
SINGLE = 1
MULTIPLE = 2
class << self
attr_accessor :account_system_type
end
end"
Now I wanna configure
AccountSystem.account_system_type=AccountSystem::SINGLE in one app. I
used an initializer: config/initializers/account_initialization.rb
where I put this line in.

How to save multiple graphs into a single file
Hi,
I have searched the archives and help manuals and can not find anything
regarding how to save multiple plots/graphs into a single for example,
pdf file. There is plenty of discussion etc. about saving a single plot
to a single file, but not multiple plots to a single file. Is it
possible? I can't want to use lattice, because I have hundreds of plots.
So, to keep it simple, let's say

Label / Tick under single Boxplot
Hi!
I am trying to get the tick / label under a stacked
boxplot with only a single
data row. With >=2 rows it works, but with a single
one the tick resp. my class
name is not printed below the boxplot. Can anybody
point me to what am I doing
wrong?
For example:

Here, I would like to have the "a" below the single

S4 method for '[' with extra arguments: distinguishing between x[i] and x[i, ]
Hi,
I want to implement a '[' for an S4 class, that behaves differently
when called with a single index argument or multiple indexes (possibly
missing), like what happens when subsetting matrices x[i] vs. x[i, ].
I manage to do it using nargs() and checking if drop is missing (see
code below), but when I want to add an extra argument to the method
(before drop), then the parent call

Bundled Netscape DS 5.x schema in Samba3.0rc2
Hi All,
The bundled "samba-schema-netscapeds5.x" file provides the schema for Samba
2.2.x attributes not 3.x. I have successfully imported this schema into the
iPlanet directory server, and then run the smbldap-migrate-accounts.pl script.
This created posixAccount objects but not sambaAccount objects. I later learned
that the script calls smbldap-useradd.pl which is designed to create

Using set_primary_key breaks acts_as_tree with non-integer column
I just switched from using the standard "id" column into using my own
primary key and generating my own unique id for each record. But, this
breaks acts_as_tree.
Because my new primary key is not an integer, it breaks the SQL query

Single user mode behaviour with serial console in 7.0RC2
Hi,
I have built a FreeBSD 7.0RC2 system to use both the serial and video
consoles.
I find that when I drop into single user mode (shutdown now) on the terminal
connected to the box itself I do not see the single user mode prompt on the
serial console terminal.
Likewise, when I drop to single user mode on the serial console I do not see
the single user prompt on the terminal connected to

Subsetting row in single column matrix drops names in resulting vector
Hello here. I'm struggling to understand R's subsetting behavior in couple
of edge cases - subsetting row in a single column matrix and subsetting
column in a single row matrix. I've read R's docs several times and haven't
found answer.
Consider following example:
a = matrix(1:2, nrow = 2, dimnames = list(c("row1", "row2"), c("col1")))
a[1, ]
