gnbd vs drbd
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Up until now, I have been using drbd for file custers with great success. Yes, it is a PITA, and sometimes you can get annoying sincronization issues (mostly on lab situations). Now I have been considering giving gnbd (with cs/gfs) a try. Do any of you ever crossed this path ? Any comparisons or comments ? TIA, - -- Rodrigo Barbosa "Quid

dotlock timestamp trouble
Hi there, I'm getting a lot of this message in production log: Created dotlock file's timestamp is different than current time (1232468644 vs 1232468524): /path/to/dovecot.index.log The IT guy swears the clocks are sincronized. Whe even have made a test in the machine running dovecot, inside the user's mailbox: # > foo; ls -l --time-style=full-iso foo; date -rw-r--r-- 1 root root

xen+drbd Question
Hi list, I installed two new servers to be our virtualization HA. This servers have CentOS 5.2, Xen 3.0.3, Drbd 8.2.6. The setup is ok, lvm drbd resources sincronizing, Guest VM running without any problem. My only doubt is that I can only use drbd resources inside guest vms when I specify the disk resource in vms config like this: disk = ['phy:/dev/VolGroup00/vappprtem01,hda,w' ] if I specify de disk like: disk = [drbd:vappprtem01,hda,w' ] T...

File timestamp and robocopy
Hi all, I'm trying to sincronize a share from a W2K to a samba 3.0.13-1 server. The problem i'm having has to do with the timestamps of the file that causes every file to get recopied by robocopy every time. Example: Doing a stat on the Samba side: File: `client.dat' Size: 7804 Blocks: 16 IO Block: 4096 regular file Device: 6807h/26631d Inode: 8815015

User migration issues
I've been looking throught the archives for a set of things to be done to migrate a install with samba 3.2.5 (lenny) to another server (wheezy) I can cope with the name change, that's no problem, but I'd like to avoid having to recreate the users on the new server, so far I tried this, without much success - scp the smb.conf to the new server - make hot backups cd /var/lib/samba

Rsync and DTrace
Hello all.. Using dtrace on solaris 10, i could investigate a performance issue with the sincronization of some files on a ZFS filesystem. I have started the follow rsync command (inside a gnome-terminal): /opt/sfw/bin/rsync -av -e ssh user@IP:/DirA/DirB . The current directory(.), was a ZFS pool with two SATA discs (mirror)... The performance was terrible. After some tests with raid0,

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hi, I was thinking about bidirectional sync of sysvol and i've a question: ?What about DRBD?. You can create a disk partition in every node, create a DRBD cluster and then mount that partition on sysvol folder. The sincronization is bidirectional and in real time. For now i've not tested this option, but i've plans to start some tests. What is your opinion about this? Greetings!!
