Force backup of files modified outside of puppet's File Type
I''m using the SimpleText recipe and Augeas plugin to modify files in
place. I''d like to notify the appropriate File resource that a
modification is about to take place so puppet can backup the file. Maybe
this is already possible but I haven''t found any examples or
documentation on how to accomplish this...

Is there a way to write to a file using puppet
Hey Guys,
I am sorry if this sounds silly but I am new to puppet. I am trying to
append a particular line to the apt.conf file on all the clients that are
running puppetd. Is there any way to do this using puppet. Any help would be
appreciated!

...ile, shut down R and/or the
computer, and come back later to read.table ... no
problem. Perhaps TextEdit throws some extra code in,
not sure <although I did save the data as simple text
and fixed width format, really the only two options I
could manipulate in TextEdit> I'll try Mac SimpleText (a
Developer Tool) and emacs to see what happens with
them.
4. Having fun with R!
Thanks again for the help, if things with the text editors
and read.table change I'll post my findings.

Appending a file to an existing file
Hi,
I have a template file which I would like to append to an existing
file (in this case I wish to add a few lines to /etc/motd). Unless
I''ve missed it, it does not appear that file has an append option. Is
there an easy way copy to the end of a file
