Stats Bug?
I use simplecast as the source into my icecast2 server. It has a built in stats program but the problem is that If my icecast server has over 2 mount points the stats stop working and the only way to fix it is to restart the icecast server. Is there anyway to fix this bug myself? Inactive (Error parsing xml do...

Stats Bug?
Version of Icecast: Newest Post on website 2.01 I do mp3 feeds I have mounts as /live /scanner and /nypd backup I never thought of trying the other stats screens when it happens but the author of simplecast says it is a issue he has told icecast authors about but it doesn't seem to be fixed. I only happens sometimes like right now I can't reproduce it. I'm guessing simplecast reads the /admin/status.xsl and something gets corrupted so it can't read the page correctly. It may also...

schedule a fallback and / 2 sources streaming at 1 server ???
Hi everyone. I was wondering if it is possible to schedule a fallback. I know there is the option when no source is streaming then icecast server falls back to another mount point. So my question is if it is possible to schedule some sort of fallback to another mount point whenever i want to. Let me give you an example: source 1 is streaming to server from 16:00 until 16:59 at mount point 1.

Forcing individual clients to alternate mount points
Greetings I'm new to the forum but have been streaming successfully with SimpleCast/IceCast2 for about 8 months. Both Simplecast and IceCast2 are running on the same Win2K system. Now I want to do something that has me stumped. It really is a two pronged problem. Here's the setup: Icecast is encoding the same live audio to multiple mount points, allowing me to easily t...

Mutiple Sources
Hello, I am running icecast with great success and Simplecast as the content source. I have already having multiple sources using different ports, to increase the security I would like to allocate each source a different password. The documentation is a little unclear as to whether a different username is required for each password, the Simplecast program d...

Overhead of individual mount points
I'm running a private stream which only has a handful of clients. I have found it convenient to create a separate mount point on my encoder (Simplecast) for each client. This allows me to track the current client list using the tools built into Simplecast. It also allows me to do custom streams when required on a per-destination basis. All mount points are normally running the same content, encoder and bit rate. Is there any downside to this k...

configuration & error help
Hi everybody, just a new face showing up looking for a little help configuring IceCast. Just installed the software with a few other programs in an attempt to start off my own internet radio station. Using SimpleCast to take the line-in and stream it to IceCast, which in-turn does the obvious and streams it to the internet. I'm looking at just creating a station of just 5 max users (for now) and going to increase from there till I can find the limit my bandwidth can hold. Though I've run into a bit...

Strange occurrence
I had something happen the other night that I just can't explain. It may not be an Icecast issue at all, but I thought it was interesting enough to post. I have a private stream with 6 mountpoints, all receiving the same 32 kbps mp3 stream from Simplecast. Both Simplecast & Icecast are running on the same Win2k system. The configuration allows me to track the comings and goings of individual client machines. Five of the mountpoints each have Linux clients running a script that automatically reconnects them if the stream is lost for some reaso...

Media Player Buffering Issue
I just noticed something. I'm using simplecast as my encoder. If I put the first Mp3 option which is listed Mp3/Mp3Pro when I play the stream in Media Player it just buffers and buffers and doesn't play. If I select the option Mp3 (ACM) Media Player works. Why would this be? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=Ottawa Valley Weather-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-...

Does icecast call home
...neca-rez.net/router.jpg You will see the blue line which is the upload rate from my router. when I run icecast it does this every 3-5 seconds. I thought maybe it was icecast updating the YP but I totally removed that section from my config file and even restarted the computer. I thought it may be simplecast but I shut it down and it still goes on. it only stops if I stop the icecast server. Can someone tell me why? --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.or...

Am I right in thinking when using the likes of SAM, Oddcast, Simplecast the encoding is done clientside? Under what circumstance would the encoding load be server-side? Radio Station
List, Time and time again I am sure you get this question. I am trying to setup a radiostation, and here is what I am looking for: 1. Ability for people to "call in" with say, winamp+oddcast or simplecast. 2. Ability to change password for the caller at any time. I know by default that Icecast2 does not allow the sharing of mounts, so what about setting up the following: 1. /radio = main mount to listen on 2. /host = dj mount for encoding 3. /caller[1-10] = 10 mount points for up too 10 callers...

Relay Planning (many questions)
...ts multicast to multiple relays, does Icecast? I understand that Icecast creates a Master / slave relationship so that the following should work: 1) Send content to Master 2) Have the 4 systems in the cluster connect to the master as a slave system What happens if the master goes away? Using SimpleCast or Nicecast, can I supply multiple masters incase of failure? Will the slaves switch under a failed condition? Does Icecast have built-in load balancing or do I need external app switch? Finally, QTSS has this feature where the slave will not grab the content unless a user is connected, does Ic...

Configuring icecast for lowest buffering/latency
...he workstation and then being picked up from the local icecast server and relayed on again. (I'm using liveCaster from www.live.com as it allows me to send the audio stream as UDP which is more efficient than HTTP streaming - unfortunately it does not accept audio directly from the windows app [Simplecast], but reads an http stream, which is why I need icecast in the middle as the glue to hold it together!) How can I configure the Icecast server to use as minimum buffering as possible so I can reduce the latency that the http streaming on the local box introduces? Is it as simple as setting <qu...

Comments and Praise
...a large group of people who broadcast police scanners from all over North America and it's mostly done using the winamp/shoutcast combo. I've told everyone I know (some big yahoo groups) about icecast and they all love it because there is no huge delay like there is with shoutcast. I use Simplecast to capture and send to the server and it works like a charm with icecast. <p>Thanks a Million PS. Is there any php scripts for interaction with icecast2? --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this...

I use Simplecast and that's where the problem is. Did some testing and installed Oddcast_v2 DSP for Winamp (on the same computer) and everything was fine. No skips, buffering and everything was on time. Anyone else had this problem with Simplecast? I have a good system. AMD XP2200 1.5gb ram NT 4 SP6a It'...
