Avoiding choosing parameters with mix[mixdist]
...My question is : Is there any way, with mixdist or other package, not to impose parameters, but rather having the function to suggest you what was best by analyzing your data. I read couple document on the subject but I haven't seen that anywhere.
I hope this is clear...
Many thanks

Samba PDC problem: Please help me avoid a mutiny! :-)
...d it appears that
the workstations are not even trying to send anything during that gap.
I'm lost at this point. I really hope someone can help. This problem has been
around for quite some time and the workers are getting tired of it, and my
promises to fix it.
Many thanks in advance,

Oplock break request failures
...e inter-process oplock break requests are simply
UDP communications and don't use subnet broadcasts - unless I'm mistaken, a
very real possibility. :-)
Does anyone have a hint on what might cause this, how to troubleshoot it more
fully, or if it's really nothing to worry about?

fitted values in LMER for the fixed-effects only
Hi,
I would like to extract the fitted values from a model using LMER but
only for the fix portion of the model and not for the fix and random
portion (e.g it is the procedure outpm or outp in SAS). I am aware of
the procedure fitted() but I not sure it give the fitted values both for
the fixed and random or only the fixed. I looked in the r help and the r
list and I haven?t not found much

Interpreting the eigen value of a population matrix (2nd try)
Thanks for telling me that you could not get my message, I hope this work
better...
so my question was:
I built a population matrix to which I applied the fonction eigen in order
to find the main parameters about my population. I know that the first
eigen value correspond to lambda or exponential growth rate of my
population. My problem is that I want to have the 95% confidence interval

I am at my wits end
Hi,
I'm a relatively new Samba user and this is my problem. I have gone through
all of the DIAGNOSIS.txt and only get errors in Test 8 and 9. They
repeatedly give me the same error i get when i try and access my samba
server and that is
"The account is not authorized to log in from this station" My computer is
part of a domain if you need to know that.
This is my smb.conf file

Dealing with brute force attacks
Over the weekend one of our servers at a remote location was
hammered by an IP originating in mainland China. This attack was
only noteworthy in that it attempted to connect to our pop3 service.
We have long had an IP throttle on ssh connections to discourage
this sort of thing. But I had not considered the possibility that
other services were equally at risk. Researching this on the web

Integrating a samba server in a samba controlled domain
Hi !
I have followed the Samba-Howto, but I still have some problems.
Our network is composed of Win2K stations and two samba servers (2.2.5)
running under SuSE Linux 8.1.
HIROSHIMAN is configured as PDC (domaine CHERYLNET) and everything is running
fine, from login to share and printer access.
VLOUCHI is a second file server and its workgroup (thus domain) is also
CHERYLNET ; security is
