Rsync's Speed
During my initial download for my home directory backup, it took rsync over 6 hours to do the initial backup, but I can FTP the stuff in about 30 Mins. Is Rsync usualy this slow? I have compression turned on, and its across a 100 MB/S network, Anyone had this problem before? Steve Sills

Fixed sill in variogram fitting (geoR)
Dear all, I'm trying to fit a variogram model using variofit function in geoR package. There is an option to fix the nugget but is there anyway to force the variogram sill to equal some defined value? I'm working with standardized longitudinal data so the process variance is 1 and I'd like to force the sill of the variogram to reach this value (and prevent it from going

RE: 8 channel fxo setup outgoing call problem (cont)
Ok, I just got my 8 channel setup to dial out and back in but here is the new issue. It sill dials in fine with all the channels, but dialing out from inside the asterisk system only works on the 1st channel of my 1st TDM400P card. Now I dont have all 8 PSTN lines going into my asterisk box at this moment, only one line for testing currently, but I should be able to plug that one line into any

strange results with dmvnorm
I am experiencing strange results using dmvnorm. I define a scaled distance matrix from the coordinates bellow and then calculate a covariance matrix using a spherical correlation function. Then with certain combinations of range and sill parameters dmvnorm is returning values greater than 1. Surely the results of dmvnorm should be in the interval 0:1 (or do I just nead a holiday?). In addition

wine / vcvarsall.bat
Hi there, I am trying to play with wine and I cannot figure out how to read a bat file that would define some env var for me. I followed instructions from: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14208 And everything seems to be installed nicely for me (thanks to winetricks !): $ find ~/.wine | grep nmake /home/mathieu/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Visual

lattice custom axis function -- right side margins
Dear R help list, I have a plot with two different vertical scales that I want to display on either side of the plot. It's quite similar to the Fahrenheit-Centigrade example in the examples section of the documentation for axis.default. The right-side axis is clipped off, though, and I haven't been able to figure out anything with viewport() and clipping or trellis.par.set to fix

[GitHub] RFC: Enforcing no merge commit policy
Hi, I would like to follow up on the previous thread[1], where there was a consensus to disallow merge commits in the llvm github repository, and start a discussion about how we should enforce this policy. Unfortunately, GitHub does not provide a convenient way to fully enforce this policy. We can enforce it for pull requests, but not for direct pushes to the master branch, so we will have to

[LLVMdev] Floating-Point Overflow check
Hello, i know that the result is infinte, but there are sill flags in the FPU which indicate that an overflow, underflow or div by zero occured. Problem installing CentOS 5.0
I decided to replace Suse 10.1 with Centos 5.0 on my file server. Im getting stuck right after I select the keyboard layout. I get the following message on the console: /dev/sdb: "sil" and "pdc" formats discovered ( using pdc)! and it just hangs there. I think sil and pdc are referring to the onboard raid chips that the drive was attached to. This drive was used in

Specifying point symbol fill colour in lattice xyplot keys
Dear all, When defining explicit keys with xyplot, I have previously used the fill parameter to set the background colour of point symbols. That's no longer working for me, and I am wondering whether it's a bug or whether I've misinterpreted the documentation and have been relying on a feature wasn't intended. If the latter, can anyone suggest the correct way to do it?

How to make an initrd for xen
Hi How do I make an initrd for xen. I''m trying to boot rhel3 in fc4, and it keeps getting stuck at Freeing unused kernel memory. I''ve created the device files, but it still doesn''t boot up. I''m pretty sure that the solution lies in makeing an initrd file. Currently my xenU kernel is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4xen0. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Many
