A somewhat off the line question to a log normal distribution
Sigfried,
I am not a statistician, but I have learned that according to the Central Limit Theorem (CLT) sums of random variables, regardless of their form, will tend to be normally distributed. CLT does not require the variables in the sum to come from the same underlying distribution.

[PATCH 1/2] Ocfs2: Add a mount option "coherency=*" for O_DIRECT writes.

(no EX locks was taken), it hurts buffered reads on other nodes
by reading stale data from cache.
The new mount option introduce a chance to choose two different
behaviors for O_DIRECT writes:
* coherency=full, as the default value, will disallow

the get-go. Here's some first-cut patches.
For people who have not seen reflink, either at LSF or on the
ocfs2 wiki, the first patch contains

permission problems win xp
hi guys,
i am running samba 2.2.8 as a PDC with about 30 xp clients. i upgraded
the clients to xp about a month ago and since then i have experienced
problems with 2 users permissions. if they access and save any file it
is rewritten with 700 permission from 750. it doesnt seem client based
as if they log on from any machine they have the same effect.
hope someone has some thoughts
