CRAN R 4.0.0 for Ubuntu repos missing r-recommend dependency
...for the suggested workarounds. This was just a VM I had spun up so I
could test R4.0.0. I'm happy to wait for Michael to fix it when he has time.

64 bit HPEC modules available?
I am running 64 bit linux on my Asterisk box and would like to get the new
HPEC software running on it. However, while there are 32 bit modules
available, there are no 64 bit modules on the ftp site:
http://ftp.digium.com/pub/telephony/hpec/64-bit/
In some places on the digium website it states 32 bit only and other places
including the documentation it states 32 & 64 bit are available.

CRAN R 4.0.0 for Ubuntu repos missing r-recommend dependency
I noticed that R 4.0.0 is now available for ubuntu on CRAN. I attempted to
do a clean install on 18.04 using:
sudo apt install r-base
after adding
deb https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu bionic-cran40/
to /etc/apt/sources.list.
Unfortunately, apt reports that r-recommend is a dependency and it won't be
installed. Upon inspecting the R4.0 repos r-recommend is missing not only

HPEC audio clipping
I have recently moved an asterisk system to a new location. This location
is experiencing terrible echo. I installed the HPEC from Digium but that
has caused a new problem.
When HPEC is enabled and more that 16 taps are used, the audio from the
outside caller gets clipped. Instead of hearing:
Hello, my name is Mike
one hears
He o, m ame ike
If the taps are set to less than 16, there

Is Asterisk ready for "real" use?
Okay,
I am facing a move in two months to newly renovated space. I
have to decide *this week* between:
A) Pull LAN and phone cables, prepare to move and expand our
"traditional" PBX (Panasonic KX-TD1232 and VPS200).
or
B) Pull only LAN cables, go VoIP, use Asterisk as PBX.
It is *not* an option to purchase a VoIP system package from
Cisco, 3com, etc. Installers are getting an

I''m in the process of locking down as much of my systems here
as possible as to available ports. I am down to only a handful
but am not sure how much of a security risk they pose and was
wondering if anyone here might be able to comment, or suggest
secure versions to run:

22/SSH (1.22)

ANNOUNCE: Linux QoS Library (LQL) 0.5.0
The Linux QoS Library (LQL) provides a GPL licensed, GObject based C API
to manipulate the network queueing disciplines, classes and classifiers
in the Linux kernel. LQL does not use the TC command as a back-end.
Instead, LQL communicates with the Linux kernel via Netlink sockets the
same way TC does.
