estimation of ode from data
Hello, I'm used to working with R in estimation of distributions and statistical models. I'd like to estimate a simple model of an output y(t) based on a concentration as independent variable, using a timed series of experimental data; I've seen this I think somewhere in R? I'd appreciate to hear if anybody has used this with success. regards, S

empirical A matrix for dynamic system and markov analyses
I'm working with a dynamic system that I've started to analyse using msm(I've emailed to chris, orignator of the program, separately, but maybe he's on holiday). I'd like to know if anyone has considered the relation between the markov analysis done with msm on the one hand, and dynamic system analysis done with MATLAB? That is, I'm working with a set of empirical data that

markov models with msm
Hello, I'm working with a dynamic system that I've started to analyse using msm(I've emailed to chris, orignator of the program, separately, but maybe he's on holiday). The data is obtained from a large cohort of students and consists of a model of learning states that students pass through over a period of one school year. As analyzed with the msm program, the data shows 'no

stochastic models for population growth
Hello, Having measured two populations' characteristics at one particular time[with great precision] with R, I would like to extend this to measuring the same populations starting at t1, and then again at t2, and try to develop a growth model (something like dpop1/dt=r*pop^(...),dpop2/dt=r*pop^(...)). I think the idea is to create a model that will predict the growth of a population(N(mu,

dynamic model strategy
Hello, I'm hoping someone may know the most likely R package for a multivariate population model for comparing groups? That is, I'd like to estimate a (stochastic) model for one batch of experiments against a different batch growing under different conditions. I'm a bit familiar with grofit, but also reading about dse and dlm. Following Bolker's Ch. 11 it seems there are many paths

B-spline/smooth.basis derivative matrices
Hello, I've noticed that SPLUS seems to have a function for evaluating derivative matrices of splines. I've found the R function that evaluates matrices from 'smooth.spline'; maybe someone has written something to do the same with smooth.basis? regards, s

evaluating derivative matrices of spline functions
Hello, I've noticed that SPLUS has a function for evaluating the derivative matrices of splines. I've also noticed that there's a function in R for evaluating matrices from smooth.spline; maybe someone knows if something has been written to evaluate matrices from 'smooth.basis'? regards, s
