Samba, Passwd, LDAP auth
...curity/pam_unix.so
session optional /lib/security/pam_ldap.so
As far as I can tell, I only need to edit /etc/pam.d/system-auth to make all
PAM applications work in RedHat 8. I edited my /etc/nsswitch.conf to look
at 'ldap' for passwd,groups,shadow.
Thank you for any help!

Samba 3.0.12 (gid of user [joe] doesn't exist) Weird error when Client logs on.
Hi,
I just recently purchased a new server and took this opportunity to
upgrade to the latest version of samba (3.0.12). Unfortunatly, I have
some weird occurances. I have a user called "joe" who is my admin
user.
In /etc/passwd I have this:
joe:x:500:500:Joe:/home/joe:/bin/bash
In /etc/group I have this:
admin:x:500:joe
id returns correctly:
uid=500(joe) gid=500(admin)

IPC connections and utmp
...samba? I am running
a moderately old version.
Oh yea, 1 other thing. kill -9 pid of a "ghosted IPC connection" is
incredibly bad. The entry seems to want to stay in utmp until reboot. :(
Any help? Is it like this in all versions of samba, including 3.0?
Thanks for the help!

'deadtime' in Samba 3.0.13
Hi,
I currently have deadtime = 15 in my smb.conf. This featured worked good to
disconnect clients that have been idle for > 15 minutes in the past. With
the 3.0.13 version, it seems to do nothing. As in, it just keeps the user
connected indefinitely.
Here is what I see when no one is currently at the office and everyone is
logged off their computer.
Thanks

Can't connect to shares w/2.0beta3 on OSF1
I was running 1.9.18p10 on a test DEC Unix 4.0d box here and I decided to
give 2.0beta3 a try. For some reason, I cannot connect to any of the server's
shares or even get a list of it's services (via Start->Run->\\server) from Win95
clients.
It asks for a password and no matter what I put in there I get "The
password is not correct. Try again."
I configured Beta3 a la:

I have already checked the spool directory for the printers. and the spool directory that is used by the hppi daemon. They exist.

wctdm, issue w/outbound calls
Hi all,
I've been running Asterisk with a TDM400P for about 6months, no problems.
2 in/outgoing analog lines, one analog phone. Recently I was messing with
the XTEN client, got to finagling with things, and not knowing what was
wrong I upgraded from 1.0.7 to 1.0.9 (both asterisk + zaptel). I was
testing various things, and found everything worked except outgoing calls.
So I checked
