purge maildir folder after sa-learn
Hello, I am looking for a command-line utility to automatically purge one Maildir folder. I want to periodically run sa-learn from cron, and after the spam learning folder has been added to the Bayes database, its contents should be deleted. I've searched a bit, but only found a few old utilities or some telnet+expect scripts, which both didn't look too reliable. Is there any

Freebsd pdc
I was just wondering how many people out there are using FreeBSD as a pdc. I see a few guides on the net mostly followed by a load of posts of problems people encounter. Is it like most things that once you have done it once you can soon set up a machine at the drop of hat as you encounter and remedy any problems. I have a few customers at the moment one of who requires a pdc with roaming

PDC: System SID missing / inconsistent with domain SID
Hello, I recently noticed a problem on our PDC (samba 3.0.32 on SLES 10 SP2) which I kind of know how to solve after web research but I am unclear about the possible consequences for our domain and clients. The situation is this: Originally samba was set up on this machine to test. Back then its hostname was infrahostnew, so there is a SID for that NETBIOS name in secrets.tdb. When the PDC went

Intermittent authentication failures
...): user=<userA at domain.com>, method=CRAM-MD5, rip=192.168.252.8, lip=192.168.252.14 I restarted dovecot, and that apparently cleared the problem for one user, but not others. Is this perhaps a bug in dovecot, or would the problem lie with vpopmail? TIA for any pointers. -- -Eric 'shubes'

Time lagging on DomU
Hi, on one of our systems I see that while the time on the Centos 5.4 Host is correct it lags behind on two of the 5.5 guests by almost 5 minutes but is correct for the third domU. From what I understand the clock of the system is controlled by the host and and guest cannot write to it (and because of that not change it). Does anyone now what the cause could be and how I can fix the time for

Recommendations, please
I've finally got a new machine coming that will allow me to play with virtualization. What might most of you recommend for the type of virtualization software I use. I seem to recall that xen might not be the best choice due to it's lack of development. I could be wrong, though. For the present time, all of the VMs will be Centos based. Any opinion will be appreciated. steve campbell

Question about "extracting" unwanted e-mails from mdbox
Imagine the following scenario Last Saturday, 3:00 AM a big phishing attack hits our e-mail inboxes. Spamassassin does not mark them as spam, and our 50.000+ users have in their mdbox a very credible phishing attack. What doveadm-fu could I use to delete (or move to spam) that e-mail from each user INBOX (let?s imagine the Subject or a Header is known)? I repeat: already delivered e-mail, how

143 STARTTLS/ 993 SSL/TLS query
I'm testing my new dovecot server with Thundirbird I can have it working on port 143 with STARTTLS, or on port 993 with SSL/TLS my uderstanding is that on 993 I get encrypted 'password and mail transfer' (yes ?) so what happens if I use 143 with STARTTLS, is that equivalent to port 993 if STARTTLS is used ? thanks for any insights.. -- Voytek

....src.rpm file was deleted from the "current" directory, but the other in the target root remain (link count was 2, is now 1). I can't figure why the 1.4.0 file isn't being removed. It's not removed on subsequent runs either. Anyone have some insight? TIA. -- -Eric 'shubes'

Ideas for distributed Samba servers
I'm trying to think about how to setup a Samba system and would like to pick the brains of some experts. We are looking up put a large amount of storage ~75TB in a central data center. We have some remote (ok, not remote, but across slower links, ok if you consider several hundred clients over 1Gb to be slow) locations that we would like to set up samba servers that 'cache' the file
