tuning software echo cancellation
We have been distributing asterisk servers for several years now, and early on decided that hardware echo can was the way to go. Our first few boxes without it had horrid echo problems, and attempts at tuning in 2006 didn't make any difference. We installed a new server yesterday at a client's location with a Rhino 4 port FXO card (HW EC included), and when an inbound call was

linux client accessing Samba domain
Hi! I've setup a samba for our windows clients, works all. Then I've setup the linux clients to authenticate against it. works also. But I wasn't able to find a way to mount the shares on the linux clients. My problem is that more than one user can use some linux clients so I can't make just a static mount via fstab. I need something for every user. KDE access the servers

SSH completely locks up if you have a NOT PERFECT con
This is a SSH BUG ! The problem is programmers who say things like this: "disconnection is the responsibility of the TCP stack" or "TCP layer 1 should take care of that". TCP will close and SSH doesn't seem to notice, I am really tired of it getting stuck. I kill it and immediately re-connect and all is OK, so how did TCP save me? IT DOESN'T - layer 1 2 3 4 5 whatever

I am looking for help on how to do the following: I am trying to answer whether adding more HBA Cards/ports would be effective. To do this, I need to know the i/o''s per second As well as total bandwidth per second. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone have any other ideas on how

R on netbooks et al?
Dear useRs, With the rise of netbooks and 'lifestyle laptops" I am tempted to get one of these to mainly run R on it. Processor power and hard disk space seem to be ok. What I wonder is the handling and feel with respect to R. Has anyone here installed or is running R on one of these, and if so, what is your experience? Would it be more of a nice looking gadget than a feasable platform

DHCP
Good day to all. I don''t like to Post unless I am really stuck. Guess what? Redhat with Shorewall. Been using this for years. I have a new client that we have setup with Redhat and Shorewall. The problem is that his outside address (ETH0 = NET) is dynamic (i.e. DHCP enabled). All the rules work fine when we use a STATIC address on Eth0, so we know the rules, filters, tos etc work fine
