The webm support for shout2send landed in gstreamer git some time ago. I'm not sure if it's made it into a release y...

Streaming AAC with libshout?
Hi, I am wondering how to add AAC support to GStreamer's shout2send element. Support for this format seems to be enabled in icecast for a while and it would be nice if one of the major open source frameworks would have been capable of streaming such content. GStreamer's shout2send relies on the libshout library but it defines only two formats - MP3 and Vorbis....

Thanks for responding! Yes, I'm using gstreamer and I'm simply broadcasting the test video source. The only difference between the mountpoints is the mount-option to the shout2send-sink, test.ogg and test2.ogg. Move listeners problems
Hi! I'm using Icecast 2.3.1 (xubuntu Hardy) and have problems moving listeners. I thought it had to do with the client, but now that I've tested cortado, mplayer and vlc I've begun to think it is actually the server. I'm using the web administration interface to move listeners, get '1' as result code but all clients hang after the buffer is empty. Any ideas/pointers?

[ANNOUNCE] libshout 2.2 released
libshout 2.2 has just been released. It's a fairly minor update: * Speex support (this is why it's 2.2 instead of 2.1.1) * Theora timing fix * Double-free bug, response parser bug on failed login fixed. It's at http://www.icecast.org/download.php

The shout2send element can be used to send an ogg stream to an Icecast server. It's not very well documented though, unfortunately, but works great in my experience. It'll handle everything from capturing v4l2 through to streaming, including multiplexing in audio. Works great with DV as well. --...

Streaming AAC with libshout?
...ww.icecast.org, chapter Icecast Release 2.2.0. Even if it is very limited support compared to MP3 or Vorbis, it is still better than nothing. The reason to use libshout instead of raw sockets is DRY. Moreover, adding such functionality to libshout can easily lead to embedding it in GStreamer's shout2send which is much easier process than introducing whole new element into GStreamer. I can initially declare will to take care of libshout and adding AAC support but I will confirm this in July. Don't confuse the ability to pass through content unmodified with parsing formats for timing, decoding or encoding. The latter is the issue with AAC. Without encoding or timing support then you could ask

The metadata is not related to Icecast or libshout at all. They are part of the bitstream as generated by the encoder. Webm streaming.
Hello, I?m new to icecast, after installing and configuring audio, I want to stream some webm videos in web browsers, so I have a few questions (I can?t find the answers in the docs) : - Which source client should I use ? - I want to stream an already encoded video, does it require a source client ? - How can I embed that in a browser ? Thanks by advance for your help. Olivier BATARD
