"failed to set gid" PANIC w/ Samba 2.0.6 on Linux
...to set gid The System is a PII 300 Mhz, Kernel 2.0.34, libc6 2.1.2. I've verifyed my /etc/passwd and /etc/group and I didn't found any errors, so now I've no other clue for addressing the problem. BTW, I'm using "encrypt passwords = no", so the /etc/samba/smbpasswd file should'n be an issue. If you need I can post the output of 'testparm'. Regards from Italy. System error 64 occurred
Dear all, I am using Samba 3.0.20b on REdHat 7.2 and + OpenLDAP 2.2.X on another RedHat 7.3 When I try to connect to Samba from XP, it always returns "System error 64 occurred. The specified network name is no longer available." But I were using IP to connect to the samba so there should'n have network name issue. After I restart smbd, then everything fine. Is there any problem with Samba on RedHat 7.2 for this un-stable situation?? The case is: in XP, net use * \\IP\public /user:username * First time ok. Then net use Z: /delete and reconnect with net use, then error occurre...

ham,Re: samba PDC upgrade from 3.2.5 to 3.4.7
Hi John. It worked well just before the upgrade. I'm not saying that this is correct, but is the reason why users aren't accessing? Also, should'n this give some specific error in the logs? Tks in advance. John H Terpstra wrote: > On 03/23/2010 02:35 PM, Leonardo Carneiro - Veltrac wrote: > >> Hi Dale and others. I had already checked the release notes. Is 'force user/group' misbehaving?
...ked a user/pass. Wether I to/pass or ti/pass, i can't even see the contents of public and the client complains that the resource/directory does not exist. If I comment out the force user and group declarations, both to/pass and ti/pass have access to the share with read and write permissions. Should'n this work even with those force user / group declarations in place?? I'm clueless right now :( This is what shows up in log.(machine) when the share fails: ------------------8<------------------------------------ [2007/12/14 15:55:55, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(309) check_nt...

Authentication only on NT Boxes not accepted
Hi folks, I'am using Samba 2.0.0 on a Linux and a Sun box and i have the following problem: I can log in from a smbclient but not from an NT Client using Security=Domain. 1.) Doubleclick on the machine opens the password dialouge (which should'n appear, beacuse i'am already logged in the domain) Enter my domainusername and password. Window dissapears and appears again and forces me to enter username and password -> No login possible on Sun or Linux box! (negative.log) 2.) From the Linux Box to the Sun "smbclinet //spider...
