webrick, thin and shotgun bug? with dragonfly and wicked_pdf/PDFKit
...ects.pdf?debug=true (the html pdf view)
Sometimes the pdf creation is succesfull,(after heroku restart)
So perhaps it''s a server bug
I''ve created a html view and have made all resources absolute (images
src, js, css files). But pdf rendering fails and I got some error by
uisng shotgun with webrick. Testing with webrick (rails s command) i
got an endless request.
Any thoughts?

Two Internet connections...
...h the cable service has), I'm not really prepared to
give that up.
However, since I can get a free cable Internet service too I would like to be
able to put that to use.
Does anyone have any good ideas for what to do with an extra cable Internet
service? Is there, say, a way to somehow "shotgun" two Internet services like
you used to be able to do with dial-up modems to increase your transmission
speed?

NUT support for multi-OS environment
...At the moment, because
some of the server apps are quite heavy, the shutdown time is not
sufficient because of shutdown time delays, and the batch file being
sequential, meaning that it executes a command, waits for a response and
moves on to the next command.
I would like to be able to issue a shotgun command to my VM boxes, etc.,
simultaneously, as the UPS run-time will then probably be sufficient.
I would appreciate comment on whether or not I can achieve this, along
with any additional guidance that you may feel would be good to have.
Thanks.

How to extract partial predictions, package mgcv
...as shown by the code "plot(global_model)".
I have tried to extract the values by using
"fitted.values(global_model,dayno)", but when plotted, the figure doesn't
look like the partial prediction for "dayno". Instead, it gives me a very
scattered figure ("shotgun effect").
Has anyone tried to extract the partial predictions? If so, please could you
advise me how to do this?
Thanks,
Staffan
P.S.. For comparison, please have a look at Simon Woods paper in R News,

Pairwise Comparrisons
...y been made – I.e. G4:G1 is just G1: G4 backwards. So it''s really wasteful and computing stuff that isn''t necessary.
So my question is, how can someone do pairwise comparisons in R this way, and ensure all combinations are compared, but it''s not as wasteful as my obvious shotgun approach which computers many redundant comparisons?

Samba User Nightmare
...rk for the former employee and no one else. I tried
adding my old username so I could access both the old server and the new
and I was having the same problems as everyone else, I couldn't access the
new server at all. I do not have a clue what the problem is and I'm about
ready to take a shotgun to the dern thing. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you!!

net drive mapping not working in login script
I've set the path for each user in pdbedit and created a login script with drive mapping etc etc
The network drives aren't being mapped when I login each user:
smb.conf
[global]
printcap name = cups
cups options = raw
map to guest = Bad User
# include = /etc/samba/dhcp.conf
logon path = \\%L\profiles\.msprofile
logon home = \\%L\%U\.9xprofile

Looking for a mentor
...he same questions get asked...
2) I feel certain that once I am over the first few
speed bumps, I can start cranking out dialplans, heck
if I can write real-time process control code in
fortran in the 80's...
3) I have reviewed the Digium classes, bootcamp etc
and although they would all be a shotgun fix, I really
think 20 hours or less of another user's time would
get me where I want to be.
4) I am new, if I am in the wrong place, please,
gently show me the door/where I chould be.

unexpected shutdown, had to reinstall xorg.server
...ttery shutdown.
So why did the ups do a powerdown?
Restarting the UPS with a long push on its power button was done, and I
expected a normal reboot to bring things back to life. Wrong... No X,
and virtual crickets in the logs. Actually no xorg.0.log. /usr/bin/X
nowhere to be found. Pointed shotgun at
apt-get install --reinstall xorg./server*
and it reinstalled 34 packages. sudo reboot and it was back to the usual
everything starts on the same screen & has to be moved to put it on the
screens I am used to mess.

Remote Telecasts?
...ed winamp at the
mountpoint for the remote source and fed that into the main (external
analogue) mixer.
Worked very well, however it was 2am, and we do have nice fast network here
at the university end.
I would guess you could do it on a cellphone if you had the inclination
(fancy running 2 phones shotgun?) but i've never tried it on a modem dialup.
=)
Oh - we did it once using shoutcast over single (64k) ISDN line - 24k mono
mp3 stream going to Shoutcast, and we also had a webcam uploading an image
every minute. Again, no problems reported, no streams dropped.
Good luck =)

TCP/UDP broken checksums redux (with UDP workaround)
...46257.842889@davenant.relativity.greenend.org.uk>
It didn''t do the trick for UDP--some further hair loss, and it seemed
a few nasty words I made for dhcrelay3 were misplaced. UDP from dom0
to domU worked; the reverse had broken checksums. This completely
uneducated patch, born out of shotgun-debugging, "works for me[1]:"

custom maildir location mapping

without an issue?
For example, I'd like to be able to login as either vlad or

I'd really appreciate any thoughts, ideas and examples anyone is willing to
share. I'm really looking to avoid a shotgun approach ("On Feb 1, your new
username is your email address").
Here are some notes on the currently functioning setup:
I'm running dovecot 1.0.7 on CentOS 5.5 x64 with Postfix 2.3.3
